I mean, I only have so much money to spend and I am a collector first and foremost. Buy now so I CAN own it, and play later.

And I'm sure this makes sense to other collectors on here too.
Fully understand. There is just no replacement to the feeling of finding something rare.
Just sitting at home and just click a button to get any game you want, there just isn't any fun to that.
Finding new shops, meeting new people, comparing prices, getting great deals.
That is what truly separates the gamers from the wannabes.
The games themselves arn't even half of it.
It's the effort and the memories that come with each game that truly makes it worth wild.

Yeah, but a lot of great games *are* DD-only. You're missing out on some real gems if you ignore that whole giant chunk of the industry. I think what "separates the gamers from the wannabes" is how much said gamer cares about the actual game, rather than its box or what store he/she got it from. Real gamers play the games that they want to play, period. Doesn't matter what format they happen to be.

Besides, I get that same thrill browsing Japanese PSN for obscure PS1 classics, or Virtual Console for obscure old NES, SNES or Genesis games. "Just sitting at home and clicking a button to get any game you want" implies that you're going online fully aware of what game you want... but browsing an online shop with a *ton* of options is honestly just as fun as browsing a game store.

And unless it's a pretty damned big game store, there's probably a lot more to find in the online shop anyway. The fun actually lasts LONGER. (:

Not one bit. There is no joy what so ever in a click of a button.
All you do is watch the loading bars roll in one after the other and next thing you know every game becomes indifferent.
What is a game that feels indifferent? Something that doesn't even feel fun to play anymore because you can just as easily switch it with another push of a button.

That and saving on gas money...I don't know about where all the rest of you are at, but it just jumped past $4 a gallon here in these past weeks...

@Millius: Man....a gamer is a person who enjoys PLAYING games....Maybe you've got that confused with collector/hoarder?

I don't get how convenience makes a game less fun.

Honestly, for as much as I prefer physical copies as well... what ultimately matters to me in the end is that the game is fun and enjoyable.

    Nothing else is important.

If this was even half true, then 75% of the PC player-base would be made of said wannabes.

A big tangential to your point, but I think one of the reasons DD hasn't caught much on fire on consoles as it has on PC is the fact that pricing is just not as good. It's supposed to be one of it's main selling points, but as I've seen so far, during discounts, best I've witnessed is a 50% off slash.and even then, doesn't seem to be a common occurrence. So what's the point of DD if you have to pay the same & don't get a tangible product?

That is exactly what I see with DD. A bunch of fat kids who can't bother to go out.
About the gas, I walk everywhere or use public transport. 10$ for a pass and it'll take me across Montreal has many time as I want so that isn't really an issue.
What I've mentioned above just makes playing the game even more satisfying. Having it at finger tip reach just takes away half the fun.
If you don't understand then chances are you probably never will but I'm sure the others know what I mean.
Anyways I'm sick and tired of talking about this. We'll never see eye to eye and it's about time to stop beating a dead horse.
    I agree to disagree.

    Edit:
I'm also not talking about PC.
Even I know that is a whole other league on its own.

Nice to see another game from XSEED. Unchained Blades is a game I'm definitely interested in. Not sure if the rumour of it being DD only has been confirmed, but I'll post assuming it is, and hope that I'm wrong.

I'm not gonna bother talking about pros and cons (has been repeated so many times), or whether it was a smart business choice (only XSEED would know), but merely comment from my own perspective as a consumer. Unchained Blades would've been a day 1 buy for me had it been available as a retail title (even if I can't play it now, having it in my backlog to play in the future is something I like), but now, it'll just have to compete with every other game, and will only be bought if I'm ready to play it. That could be at launch, 3 months after, during some 50% off sale, or even never (if other games that I'm just as interested in come out that do have physical releases, they'll be getting priority).

That's the way it is with me. Not saying it affects my decision for games I truly want (I'll buy them digital any day), but for other games, physical gives me the urge to buy now, while digital gets put on the to buy list, either to be bought later, or completely forgotten. Not sure what this says about me supporting super niche games (probably not good), but in the end, if I believe I'll enjoy both physical game A and digital game B, then physical game A wins.

Anyways, hope I'm wrong and that it is physical. I also hope that XSEED succeeds with whatever it's releasing, but as for me, I'll just continue buying what I want, with physical games getting an edge. I personally would definitely like it if an XSEED release would align with my gaming (and materialistic) interests.
