Oh dear another DD-blowout. Time to go under my rock with my unpopular opinions for a little bit, eeeeeek.

Regardless, best of luck with Unchained. I can't say my money will be there day one, as I'm just not one for dungeon crawlers, and I'd much rather take The Last Story [which is physical, so.....we don't need to prepare for impending doom for just a bit longer, maybe?] so that's where I stand lol. Plus, The FP drops in June too, as does Lollipop Chainsaw, so the budget is tight.

And when they do it right, something happens, like Demon's Souls, where Atlus was the one that localized and From Software made a deal with Namco to keep making the game, but multiplatform.

    I know that Tom.
It just wouldn't make any sense (if you want to stay on business). No matter how much I'd like to see awesome physical PC games on European market, I know it ll not happen. It would be like betting on more than a miracle. That is just the way things go now. You can't always do only nice things in life. I guess it is same for business, you just can't do everything you want to do. Resources are limited and so on.

I'm more or less happy with the current situation. As I said PC&Europe(Steam atm) or importing from US for physical copies or something.. Heck, PC gaming is probably dying and so is physical copies. Just what ll I have after a couple of years or more? I may have to completely change to DD and handhelds? Or even iphone or something worse stuff? How far am I willing to go down that path with the rest of the world?
I guess, it is as far as I can afford and enjoy the games.

And lucky for Atlus and Namco, they made money out of Sony's dumbness.

All I can say is, when you see this industry from the inside, everything looks a lot different than you'd expect.

There are so many factors here that probably haven't even entered the mind of the average gamer at all, and they're all things that we can't discuss due to NDAs. It's the most frustrating thing in the world, and something that I'm sure anyone else who's ever been connected to this industry can attest to.

Demon's Souls was kind of a freak accident. I don't blame SCEA for thinking White Knight Chronicles would be the better seller. I blame Level-5 for making WKC a trashy game, and SCEA sending it to die against FFXIII.

Well the PSP version is physical supposedly, but that kind of sucks because I'm not that in to dungeon crawlers.

There's more to it than that, though I still am baffled by a title like Hakuoki getting a physical release when visual novels just don't sell in this country, let alone those with a highly unusual (for this country) audience. Just because a game gets a physical release doesn't mean it's going to inherently make more money, though it does seem like Aksys likes to take quite a few risks.

Not that I've been in the industry myself, but being an observer and knowing a bit about how the industry operates and more specifically how Japanese businesses operate, I can speculate on a few things that aren't worth discussing but you're right, what gamers don't know about the industry doesn't allow much hope for empathy. For every God of War success story there are a hundred Retro Game Challenge stories out there. But in the minds of a lot of gamers, every game is God of War in terms of envisioned success. Wouldn't that be swell?

If Wild Arms was alive and kicking, Sony would do it themselves, and not let someone else handle it.
