    @SIN
    Guess you failed to read that he also said that unannounced game could also be switched to DD and the format wasn't set in stone.
    You're right I did miss that, I'm not trying to debate, argue or throw anybody under the bus. Don't get mad at me, I'm just trying to reason with people, I guess it's not a good idea to try and defend the big, bad Xseed. I'm going to keep supporting them as long as they put out a game I want, if YOU don't want to I'm not going to judge you. But if people start calling the rest of us "casual wannabes" and things like that it starts making said person look like a self-entitled brat.

    Thanks Gintoki!!!

    That isn't what he said at all. You're flipping out about a couple games going DD and assuming that everything else will be only DD when that isn't going to be the case. However, market conditions for particular games will require going with DD only when that's the only profitable option for a game they get to localize. There will still be plenty of physical games but they have to be games where XSEED won't have to eat a bunch of returns from retailers.

    I do not want to sound like a traitor, or something like that, but I can actually sort of agree with what Tom is saying when it comes to digital games. For me, and I imagine a gamer (as opposed to a collector, but sadly I am both, so I get conflicted a lot), the most important thing is playing and enjoying the game. Such as, that is why I bought Nocturne without the case and manual, because at that time, even though I hate buying games that way, it was either that, or not playing the game, and, well, I wanted to play the game. I did eventually get the case and manual though, when I daringly ram-raided a Gamestop, but that is a story for another time.

    But I also agree that I love the feeling of going out searching for a game; hell, it is only half about the game, half about the journey and the fun of just getting it; the memories you get from it. I can feel that certain sense of fun when browsing the Virtual Console or PS1 Classics, but it is no where near as great as going outside on a mini adventure (not to mention that things are not added often to the North American services, bleh). But, I still have fond memories attached to DD games, like Corpse Parry, and definitely Kirby's Adventure (which I never would have known about or played if not for the virtual console).

    So, I am definitely conflicted by my gamer half and my OCD collector half, but, for me at least, the gaming side usually wins out, and playing the game is the most important thing. But, this is just how I feel.

    However, though I am coming around, I am still not a big fan of DD, but mainly because the buyer seems to have very litte security when it comes to their purchase, and I only see that becoming worse in the future.

    Still, I think it is too early to be getting so up in arms over a few DD games.

    I generally stay away from the whole physical vs. digital debate, but I think I'll put my two cents in.

    Like most people here, I much prefer physical games. If I'm given the option between both, then I'll take the physical version any day. I am okay with digital games, although I've never bought a retail-style game as a download. All the digital games I have on my PS3 are games from previous generations or download-only games like Flower. However, if there was a retail-style game I really really wanted that was digital-only, then I would buy it regardless of format. I play games to have fun and enjoy myself, and the format doesn't take away from the enjoyment.

    Buying download games doesn't separate the gamers from the wannabes. A gamer plays games because he or she enjoys playing games. Not going out of your way to search for rare games may make you less of a collector, but it definitely does not make you any less of a gamer, and I'm not a collector in any way, shape, or form. I play games to have fun, and that's it. The way in which I obtain a game, whether it's buying a physical product in a store or online, or buying a download game, does not matter in the slightest. A good game is a good game.

    I understand the feeling of finding a rare game; this happened to me when I bought SMT Nocturne when it was really hard to find, before it got a reprint. I was really happy when I found the game, brand new, for a good price, because I had been looking for a good deal on it for a while, but this feeling lasted only when I bought the game and when it came in the mail. As soon as I owned the game I treated it just like any other game. Yes, I knew it was rare, but I played it and enjoyed it the same as I would any other game. When I was playing it, not once did I think about searching for it and buying it. In fact, I haven't thought about either of those since I bought the game 5+ years ago.

    (If we were talking about books I would be much more adamant about physical products. I don't own an e-reader, and I don't plan on owning one until physical books stop being produced entirely. But I would, begrudgingly, buy an e-reader if that were the case, because I like reading WAY too much to stop buying new books.)

    That will likely be a physical release when XSEED inevitably picks it up.

    For what it's worth and by that I mean no one cares, when I think of "gamer wannabes" I tend to think of those people from high school that maybe played some of their sibling's LOZ game and Pokemon B/R/Y back in the day and now they wear all their retro gamer and/or memerific clothes from Hot Topic and do their hair all cute/crazy and run around quoting Portal/"CAKE IS A LIE xD" and talking like a damn lolcat or whatever and maybe, just maybe plays one of the currently popular FPS games.

    Maybe I'm crazy and no one knows what the hell I'm talking about, or it's all outdated now, but the point is you're all wonderful people and I really really doubt you're what I just described so clicking some buttons to buy a game off Amazon should not make you a traitor to games and gamers everywhere right?!

    Download DD games and not play them? Or buy physical copies so that I can stare at the cases on my shelf while I'm too busy not playing them? #firstworldproblems
    If there were no (developer/publisher) to complain about, we would need to invent it.
