How did you find out about Solatorobo?

Please excuse the story time, I just feel like writing a bit.

Solatorobo is an off-the-beaten-path niche title that a lot of people are probably never going to hear of. I was wondering how everybody here came to know about it.

For me it was just luck. I just had a major surgery recently and have been hurting and mostly house-bound. I had someone take me to Gamestop for a few minutes, I haven't bought a new video game in ages because my health issues have translated into money issues but I really needed something to take my mind off of things.

Looking at the DS games I saw Solatorobo and that it had a soundtrack with it which is always cool. Then I saw that it was about a dog riding a robot and instantly I thought of Tail Concerto which I have for PS1 from back in the day and I always really enjoyed, assuming it was a dead property that would never see a sequel. I didn't even know the two games were related at this point I was just noting the similarities.

Well I was hurting and wanted to get out of there so I did something that I never do and decided to take a risk and buy a game I never heard of and knew nothing about. I was impressed with the art style and the manual and the soundtrack extra and the graphics looked cool. I figured it couldn't be a total loss and I could try to sell it if it turned out bad. When I got home the first thing I did was Google the game and I got excited when I saw all the positive reviews, then I got REALLY excited when I found it it was actually a sequel to Tail Concerto!

My mind was blown even though it all made total sense because the similarities were many and obvious. They actually made a sequel of one of my favorite PS1 games that only I ever heard of! Then I got to playing and on top of that the game was good, even better than Tail Concerto.

I don't remember window shopping for video games and blindly buying one I never heard of simply because the box looked cool since my Sega Genesis's day and I'm happy that it paid off this time.

I've been an XSEED fanboy for years, XSEED can't release anything without me knowing about it, muahaha!

I don't have an epic to go with it, but I first saw it covered on Siliconera.

Tail Concerto was one of my favorite PS1 games, and so I had been paying attention to what CC2 was up to ever sense hearing about Mamoru-kun and seeing some concept art for Tail Concerto 2. It being brought to the US is how I found out about XSeed.

Wow. That's a really cool story, man. Hope you get better. The way I found out about it seems boring in comparison. I was reading some forum around the time the game was set to release in Europe and people kept talking about it and so I looked it up and fell in love with the game. Then XSEED announced they were bringing it over and so I here I am.

Back when I bought my 3DS, I decided to resubscribe to Nintendo Power. Read about it there.

I'm a minor CC2 fanbot so I keep tabs on their various projects by visiting their website once a week or so. I was very curious what their DS project would be since they'd never made game on a non-Sony system before. They must have been fighting to get this game made for a long time since the teaser page was put up in 2007 and only unveiled in early 2010. Having played Tail Concerto some years ago I was certainly pleased by Solatorobo's official announcement! Even more so that the game has made it outside of Japan!

Team Fortress 2, of all things.

I was playing a game and noticed someone's avatar...I couldn't, for the life of me, figure out who it was--eventually, a friend figured it out and told me the name of the game....decided I would pick it up once it came to the States---I don't regret the purchase one bit--easily my favorite DS game.

Well I found out when Siliconera.com put out a scan of the game which piqued my interest and I have been following it till it got released in Japan and was hopeful it would get an English localization well after a few months the game was announced for Europe and was thinking if it wasn't coming to the US I will import from EU but behold glorious XSeed Games saved the day and announced a US release of the game so when I heard that I was ecstatic and pre-ordered as soon as possible on Amazon.com and now I have the game in hand in English and enjoying every minute of it. Thanks so much for bringing this wonderful game XSeed Games. ^_^
