Yeah, but there are probably only like two people that bought one.
Bumping because it's now been released on iOS and is on sale for $0.99!
I only have an android phone, but who knows?!?!
Yup, got it a few days ago and the game is pretty good. Definitely worth it at $1.
Pros:
- the art is nice
- the owning a bar portion is fun, with a large number of recipes to fill and decisions to make as to what to make to sell/eat (eating is how you gain experience)
- the RPG portion is good too, with nicely designed dungeons and variety of monsters
- overall, the game is nicely balanced between the two portions, rewarding players who explore, both recipe wise and in the town/dungeons
- only 20MB, and (currently) $1
Cons:
- controls aren't great (it's the iPhone, what can you do?)
- characters and story are paper thin (don't expect the same charm from them as you do a game like Recettear)
- kinda minor, but I wish the characters had more than one sprite each (they're always smiling)
Kind of inevitable to have control issues when you're talking about going from a GREAT controller like the PSP to touch controls. I have to wonder about the latter point though because it sounds like (given that I can't play the game) that the latter might be more of an issue with the poor translation quality. But it's possible the original game was that way too, considering it was a small PSN release.
True, it could be a translation thing. I did catch a few grammar/spelling mistakes, and I did feel that the dialogue was, for lack of a better word, kinda boring. But at the same time, I have a feeling the original wasn't good to begin with. Stuff like how the older sister so easily lets the younger sister take over the bar, or how a total stranger decides to start helping you in dungeons because they like the apple pie you made is kinda telling of the quality of the story.
In short, go in for the game, not the story.
Bumping this because it's now free (temporarily). If you didn't feel this was worth the $1 when it launched and have and iPhone/Touch, now's a good time to get it.
