Ys - Celceta, Sea of Trees (Ys IV) announced for Vita

In this week's Famitsu, a remake of Ys 4 (most likely Mask of the Sun, as that is the canon story) has been announced for Vita. It'll use Ys 7's party system.

According to an unofficial statement from Sony of Europe, the Vita is NOT region-locked.

since the psp none of the sony console are region-locked microsoft and nitendo should reflect on that

...and they announce this in the middle of my Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys playthrough, of all times =D


I'm going to assume that Falcom will be going more by the SFC storyline (albeit with changes similar to those in Oath).


Hopefully, they get Yukihiro Jindo to arrange the tracks for the game, and perhaps even include the tracks from the Ys IV JDK Special X68k OST <3

I'm kinda disappointed... We'll have alsmot all the Ys games of PSP... I won'T buy either 3Ds or PSP Vita, so I'm screwed for wwanting all Ys, guess I'll jsut import another freaking japanese game

Why no Vita purchase? You'd theoretically be able to play every Ys game on it, if a couple more get released. Isn't that exactly what you're looking to have happen? (:

Seriously, though, is there a particular reason why you won't buy the Vita or 3DS? I mean, you must've known this sort of thing would happen. Falcom couldn't just support the PSP forever and still make money...

They all say that the Vita is like 249.99 and won't have any umd retroactivity :S

I guess I can't make myself by a portable device for such a price when it could break anytime because of stupid people bumping on your and such. It did happen for my DS I was pretty pissed off and I never had the chance to get a ''I'm sorry''

I also tend to hate touch screens, I hope vita won't have this ^^'' Maybe I'm too conservative. I hate 3D like the 3DS and touch screens :S The same goes for dl games.

Regardless of backwards compatibility, the Vita is going to have a lot of awesome games. Heck, even if this WERE the only awesome game, it's worth getting the system for. If you're concerned about playing it on the go then...don't? Nothing says you have to play portable systems on the go. I rarely do with my PSP.
