    Exclamation Dangan-Ronpa

Taking into account the recent announcement of Corpse Party, it has reminded me of the gem that Dangan-Ronpa is and the fact that it is still not localised.

I tried to look for the forum thread, but did not find any. I presume that this game is a classic when it comes to suggestions in this forum, but I find it striking that no practical threads to discuss the hype that a localisation would produce.

For anybody who does not know about the title, official info:

    Name: Dangan-Ronpa
    System: PSP
    Release date: 11/25/10
    Genre: ADV/Horror
    Developer: Spike
    Publisher: Spike
Famitsu score: 10/9/8/9 (for the 1st, 2nd TBA)

    Plot
"Fifteen super-elite students have been locked in the school and they are forced to live in this isolated community. There is a special rule for the students: only murderers can graduate from the school, and this rule turns the prosperous school into the despairing place. The protagonist, however, does not follow this rule. He investigates murders instead of murdering somebody and tries to figure out a way to escape from the school."

Problem with this game is the fact that the story doesn't really end. Xseed would also have to release the sequel for the story to make sense. Everybody started to complain the moment they heard about Corpse Party being a download only game. Releasing both Danganronpa and Super Danganronpa 2 Farewell School of Despair as UMD titles is IMPOSSIBLE. They could work as psn titles though, but that's also a long shot.

I actually think the market for this game would be much larger then for Corpse Party.

It seemed to me that the story did end and they intentionally left some things ambiguous (one of the reasons I felt the story went downhill near the end). The sequel will probably clear some of these things up (if they actually manage this in a satisfying way I'll be impressed), but when I first heard there would be a sequel, I imagined that it would be fairly unconnected to this game, plotwise (I could be complete wrong). I didn't feel a sequel would be inevitable when I got to the end of the game.

I'd be all over it. Another great PSP title that's not a JRPG.

I wouldn't put too much faith into that GameFAQs listing. Earlier this year we got a bunch of listings regarding Half Minute Hero 2 being localized, and thus far that's been a lot of nothing.

Spike supposedly made this game to target the Western audience ... though that begs the question as to why they released it on PSP with anime character designs in 2010, but okay. In an interview with 4Gamer it didn't seem like they had a Western publishing partner. This interview was in late June/early July.

And I agree to disagree. Since when did pure adventure games (no gunning, no jumping, no leveling up, just pointing, clicking and reading) start to sell on the PSP? I love adventure games (a love which started with 'The Longest Journey') and when the dry season hit PC, I ended up buying a NDS. With games like Phoenix Wright, Professor Layton, Time Hallow, Ghost Trick, I think it's safe to assume that the NDS is the platform to go. I did eventually buy a PSP, but I bought it for all the JRPGs.
