Suikoden I & II Collection (PSP)

Would love to see this collection of two of the best ps1-era rpgs brought state side. Both games came out in the US back in the 90s so they're already translated, but very hard to find at reasonable prices. The PSP versions have a number of improvements too including:

    * The player is now able to move their character diagonally inside places and over the world map.
    * Graphics have been slightly enhanced and redone to fit widescreen. This includes an extension of some places which were designed for PAL and NTSC televisions.

    Suikoden I changes
    * The opening movie of Suikoden I is now the one from the Sega Saturn version.
    * Some menu windows changed in orientation.

    Suikoden II changes
    * Rune and Unite sequences are faster.
    * The Matilda "Glitch" has been removed.
    * The background music for the tactical war fights vary depending on the situation of the hero's army. These tracks include the original "Battlefield Without Light" and the un-played from the original PlayStation version, "War".

More information on changes can be found here: http://www.suikosource.com/games/gs2/indepth/psp.php

If Konami had wanted to publish this in the US/EU, they would have done so back in the 2006 when the PSP was in its prime years. At this point in time, the entire Suikoden franchise has a big question mark hovering over it.

Actually Konami has said they disbanded the Suikoden team (and that they no longer have a team to make RPGs at all) so it's safe to say the series is dead. Suikoden 1 is already on PSN as a PS1 Classic, they just need to put the second game up.

Would be nice, as right now I only have the odd numbered games and would like to get 2.

Actually, last I heard is that they would like to resume it at one point (hence the couple new and intriguing outsourced RPGs coming from them), but I don't get much of a we really want to continue this vibe from them... :P

But yeah, realistically speaking, IF Konami wanted to release these here, they'd just convert the existing games over to the PSN store. The fancy UMD versions were released sooooo long ago.

Just because they didn't publish them back then doesn't mean they wouldn't be willing to let another publisher take it on. They're working with Tri-Ace atm on two new rpgs for PSP and DS, so they obviously haven't given up on the platforms and are willing to work with other studios.

I had no idea this was even released on the PSP in Japan. It would be really nice if Konami would just put the second one up on PSN already, feels like it has been long enough since they released the first. Now that I think about it, Suikoden II, Azure Dreams, Breath of Fire III, Legend of Dragoon, and Thousand Arms all need to find their way to PSN...

Considering people pay $150-$200, you would think Suikoden 2 would be something they would want to put on there quick. They should get a ton of buyers on that. And Legend of Dragoon is a Sony game, I am still baffled that it's not up. Hopefully Breath of Fire III is on the way though since we got IV this week.

I know that's exactly the same thing I was thinking. I mean they have to know there is a pretty high demand out there for Suikoden II right? Like you said you'd think they'd get it up ASAP.

It's been a long time since this came out in Japan on the PSP, but I'd still buy it if it comes over here. Loved these games on the PS1.
