One little thing you'll want to fix in the U.S. version.

I just looked at the Euro version's page, and there's one little translation gaffe I noticed. クーバース should be "Kuvasz," not "Kuvarz."

Kuvasz is a breed of dog. I picked this little factoid up when I was, yes, planning on doing a fan translation. Suffice it to say, I was never so happy to officially cancel a project. :3

So yeah, just offering my two cents to help make the finished product just a little more awesome. I've been waiting years for this, and I'm preordering it as soon as I can.

Personally, I would be more interested in the possibility to skip dialogs. But I didn't know kuvasz was a breed of dog. Nice.

It seems that most of the names in Solatorobo are references to various things in the Real World, and from what I've seen, some of that was lost in the European version Whether on purpose or not, I have no idea. Kuvarz is only one example... Spinon: Spinone, Samoyede: Samoyed: more dog breeds. Blanck: blanc, French for white. Flo the quest lady: was originally フロマージュ, fromage, French for cheese. Calua Napage: Kahlua (as in the coffee liqueur, but maybe it's not good to use an actual brand name) Nappage (French for icing on a cake). Arzane (the orphan): Argent, French for silver. I'm sure there are more...

I suspect it's too late to change anything with the release less than two months away (assuming anyone in charge even thinks it needs changing), so I guess this post is more for trivia purposes FYI, the robot names are references to mythological figures from various cultures: e.g., Red's Dahak: Azi Dahaka from Iran. Sruvara and Zairita are Iranian too.

Calua's the official romanization, but I see where it comes from now. Flo also appeared in an artbook, IIRC.

Still, it'd be nice if XSEED cleaned things up to better match the intended references. Breath of Fire 2 has a bunch of in-jokes in its ending cast list, some of which were mangled a fair bit (oddly enough, the crappy original translation got "Kilgore" and "Trout" right, while the original cast list got them wrong).
