They're Sega, but they're not Namco. I'm convinced that Namco would never EVER let someone else touch any Tales game, but with Sega, there's still hope.

I don't think XSEED would be able to get localization rights to this one, but not for the reasons already discussed. If XSEED were to do this, Sega would have to spend resources to do the reprogramming, much like Falcom has work to do when XSEED localizes one of their games. Sega has said they don't want to do the work. So whoever localizes this would have to have technical staff either on hand or on contract to take Sega's code and take care of the programming side of things. I don't think XSEED has ever done that before. Have they?

Sega US doesn't care about it, but Sega JP is the one that would have to help with the programming, and if they were the ones that decided to put the second and third game on the PSP, I bet that they'd like to see it localized.

Well, there is Sakura Taisen 5, which NIS managed to bring over. Sega never used the title here unlike Valkyria Chronicles, but NIS still had to obtain the rights from Sega of Japan...

Not sure if this means anything in this situation, but still.

Well, I believe that we can most certainly say that this is what the fans want the most (at least, the kind of fans who would go to a publisher's forum). The bad thing...I suppose a Sega game must be really expensive.

I did play a little bit of the japanese game. Gameplay-wise, its more or less the same as Valkyria Chronicles 2. I don't know if this will be more difficult, as I only played a few scenarios (I hope it is...besides from the story, my other critic to VC2 was that is was way too easy). I don't know japanese, so I don't know much about the story, but I did watch the first OVA of the game, and just with that, is safe to say that the story will be way better than VC2's.

It's funny people are making a big deal about that whole SC thing when this is a much bigger PR mess. Now apparently the word is that "it's open ended," so they are implying that a Vita or PS3 Remaster version could happen. Right, this is after you basically said there was no plan to localize it?

    You mean this?:

That was the community manager for VC2, and he was just voicing his personal support. Don't take it as a statement on Sega's part that they're still mulling it over.

It wouldn't be a very good idea to say "keep it up" if Sega has already made their decision and is not even considering anything anymore, ala Nintendo. If it's absolutely not happening he would have been better off saying "Hey, I'm a fan, I'm disappointed too, but it is what it is." Like I said, if people thought what Tom said about SC was bad (lots of comments about "leading fans on," which I don't necessarily agree with), this is significantly worse.

I hadn't seen the video before you posted that, but it is a lot less, er... aggressive? than the places that have sourced it. Including the dualshockers own page.
