Question about Ys Seven musical track (MILD SPOILERS - track near end of game)

I just completed the game a couple hours ago and near the very end there was an absolutely stunning track that I recalled hearing. I believe (if I'm not mistaken) it played after the party defeated Scias while talking to Tialuna, but it could have been after Tialuna and prior fighting the Root of Everything.

While playing I just wanted to read through the scenes and fight the battles, thinking I could go back to the OST provided with the limited edition I bought after I completed the game and really listen at length to the track. Unfortunately I can't seem to find that track on the CD! It's a pretty full featured OST, so I'm a little surprised this track isn't on there.

Does anyone know which track I'm referring to, and if so, where I might be able to find it?

Oh, and the score for this game was truly without equal. It was just packed with great hits. Angry, thrashy tracks, soulful tracks, and bubbly, happy tracks, all interwoven in this aural masterpiece.

Sadly, we were only able to provide a one-disc soundtrack sampler for Ys Seven (which has a two-disc OST in Japan), and I'm the one who picked and chose which tracks to keep, and which tracks to cut... so I'm the one to blame for that particular song not being included, I'm afraid!

Is this the track you're referring to, perhaps?

If so, I also *really, really* like it, and it was painful NOT to include it... but I was trying to narrow the list down to the most recognizable and important tracks used throughout the game. And as awesome as this one is, it IS a bit of a slow burn, and it's not played very often, nor is it a major battle theme, a major dungeon theme, or a major town theme... so I left it out.

Sorry about that! But hopefully, YouTube can make up for the omission. And if not, you could always buy the Japanese OST! I'd be happy to help direct you to a place from which it can be purchased.

That's it!!! It's truly an inspired piece. I can completely understand why it was left out though, and for most of the reasons you say.

I have to commend you for doing an excellent job of selecting the most impressive and representative pieces from the game. I think I only really truly missed this track and one or two other ones.

I haven't played Oath yet, but I'm hoping its as good. I've been listening to the CD provided with that game recently and so far the tracks haven't impressed me like Ys Seven. I'm hoping that playing the game will give me a fuller appreciation. So many glowing reviews of that score can't all be wrong.

Would you mind sending me a link or two to a couple retailers for the Japanese OST?

Thanks for your help! And contributing to such a great game!

It's a shame that you guys weren't given the option of giving out the full, two-disc OST. Even a digital version would have been pretty sweet.

My pleasure! Glad you enjoyed it so much -- and I'm quite certain you'll enjoy Felghana just as much, and can't wait to read any impressions you have of it! (:

Certainly! One possible option is to order the OST from Falcom directly, using the instructions listed in this topic:
    http://xseedgames.com/forums/showthr...s-for-PC/page2

The order number for the Ys Seven Original Soundtrack is M049: http://www.falcom.co.jp/mailorder/catalog/m049.html

Unless you order more than just that, however, it's probably better to order the CD by itself, so as not to pay an arm and a leg for shipping... but not a lot of places seem to have it in stock, unfortunately! I'm only seeing it at Amazon Japan, and since it's (mistakenly) listed as a CD-ROM instead of an audio CD, it's likely they wouldn't actually ship it overseas. You can try, though:

    http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B002SSA39K?tag=vgmdb-22

    Barring that, maybe try... eBay?

I'd just buy it from Falcom directly, myself. And order a crapton of other CDs along with it to make up for all the shipping charges. If you want some suggestions for great Falcom soundtracks to order alongside it, I'd be happy to provide you with some!

Deuce: We did try for it, but there were a whole host of (really quite valid) reasons why we couldn't, unfortunately. But, we gave it the best effort we could, and hopefully my trimmings didn't affect anyone's enjoyment of the CD tooooooo much. (:

Oh, I know the reasons why. I get it; it still sucks.
