Treasure Report NDS
With the Professor Layton mania in full swing, it seems that every publisher/developer out there wants a piece of the action. From Zack & Ombra's Amusement Park of Illusion to Puzzle Agent and Doctor Lautrec and the Forgotten Knights, there are many protagonists out there that want to be as brave and clever as everyone's favourite professor. Treasure Report for the NDS might seem like just another clone, but it is definitely not. One would be very wrong in making that assumption as a lot of talented people are working on this game. Yukinori Kitajima, author of Okamiden and the critically acclaimed visual novel 428, made sure that the game's scenario was top notch. Gurihiru studios is handling the character designs while Yasunori Mitsuda is composing the game's music.
The Nintendo DS title follows newspaper reporter John Evans and camerawoman Emily Smith who are on the trail of a very wealthy inheritance. On their journey, they will meet a mysterious boy named Nino and his dog Poochie. The game boasts both mystery solving and puzzles.
Treasure Report: The Mechanized Legacy is divided into three parts: story, investigation, and puzzle solving. Famitsu explains the mystery is geared for adults and it has plenty of animated scenes to liven up the plot. In the investigation phase players use the stylus to inspect suspicious points. After you find clues you need to put them together and play with contraptions to solve puzzles. One puzzle has wheels inside of a triangle and it appears you have to turn them. Another puzzle has a cube to play with and there is a puzzle reminiscent of the letter lock seen in the Da Vinci Code.
The game is not out yet, but with only a month before its release I thought it would be nice to suggest one of the last few games out there being developed for the Nintendo DS.

Breakfast Revelation
I don't know (and really hope) if it's in the "last few" games developed for the DS category, as I can't see the 3DS taking over those sales numbers for quite a while (and I'm hoping game companies aren't all jumping ship for a platform that's more expensive to develop for but still hasn't had a huge surge in sales or interest outside of early adopters just yet)... but I could be wrong.
REALLY nice looking game, by the way...
