Non-XSEED game music you should hear!

Two out of many reasons why SNK (and by extension, SNK Playmore) is a musical force to be reckoned with.

    --- The Transcendental Translator ---
PSN: MoriyaMug / XBLA: MoriyaMug42 / Twitter: MoriyaMug
Translator of Ys: The Oath in Felghana, Ys I & II Chronicles and LoH: Trails in the Sky for XSEED
Fan Translator of Ys IV: Mask of the Sun (Super Famicom), Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys (PC Engine CD-ROM), Ys V (Super Famicom, in progress),
Cyber Knight II (Super Famicom), Samurai Shodown RPG (Neo*Geo CD, in progress)

Nobuo Uematsu's work on Final Fantasy games definitely needs mention here. Here's two of my favorite pieces (among many!).

Final Fantasy IV - Opening Theme.

Final Fantasy VIII - The Landing.

There are some other games/composers...i might post some more later

Absolutely amazing Basiscape soundtrack to an absolutely amazing game... and neither the soundtrack nor the game is very popular, sadly. :( But let me tell you, Opoona has some of the best game music I've heard in many, many years. Listen for yourself!

More or less, this is the first "town" theme (it's technically a biodome-slash-school-campus, but if it had to be classified, I think it would classify as a town theme):

(Has a slow start, but if you skip ahead to 0:34, you'll hear why I love this track so much!)

The "Blue Desert Hotel" theme. Again, would probably rank as a "town" theme... but it's not a town, it's a posh resort hotel! And it's one of my favorite songs in the game:

The main battle theme -- think Hitoshi Sakimoto + Danny Elfman + Sabre Dance. It freakin' RULES:

The requisite water theme, easily joining the ranks of some of the best in video game music history (Super Metroid, Super Mario 64, etc.):

I could keep going, but I think you get the idea. Go play the game and buy the OST! You won't regret it!

Main reason I choose to play the PS2 version over the DS one, right here.

Because nothing says "good video game music" like some Mega Man.

Say what you want about any Mana game after Seiken Densetsu 3, but Legend of Mana had a sweeeeet soundtrack.

Oh, yeah, and MOTHER3 had a pretty sweet and diverse soundtrack, especially for a GBA game.

Yes it did, here's from my favorite's on youtube, it's not the original instead being a remix, but it's not any less cooler then the original.
