What Y's game should i start with?

Just like the title says, i have Y's 1 and 2 on the Wii, but i think i've barely even seen the main menu ever, since the next Legend of Heroes won't be coming over in a bit, i might go give Y's a try, but not sure where to start from.

I'm looking mainly at the handheld versions

    Thanks!

put the 3 games in a dart board, blind fold yourself and throw a dart backwards, you'll likely miss the entire board but just pick the one the dart landed nearest of.

If you're unsure, my recommendation would be Ys Seven. It's far and away the most accessible of the three PSP titles we've published, and is a great springboard for getting into the series.

After that, I'd say go with Oath in Felghana, then Chronicles. (We released them in that order for a reason, after all!)

That would be my ANTI-recommendation. (: Ys I & II are VERY different from every other Ys game available in English, and much more old-school. They're a fantastic duology of games, but they're very much an "acquired taste."

Basically, I know a lot of people who *hate* Ys I & II (blasphemers, they are, but it's still true!)... but I don't know a single person who hates Ys Seven.

I love YsI&II, but I think that you're right. Then Sgt Phantomizer should start with Seven and after The Oath in Felghana he should play I&II?

A friend of mine played Arc of Napishtim first and said he wished he had played some of the earlier games first. So I decided to play them in order starting with Chronicles and fell in love. They definitely feel old school though, a plus for me but you may feel differently.

After TitS I'll have to play Oath and Seven, haven't decided if I'm going to pick up Ark yet.

If you do, I recommend the PS2 version over the PSP version, by leaps and bounds.

Ark is definitely worth playing, though.

Thanks, guess i'll check them out in that order. I don't think i've played any Falcom games besides the Legend of Heroes games, so i'm kinda curious as to what Y's is all about.

It's a very, very different experience. Legend of Heroes is slow, and is more about story than gameplay... whereas Ys is RIDICULOUSLY FAST, and is more about gameplay than story. (:
