    Ys Seven PC Version (?)

Just saw this on Play-Asia, in both Regular Edition and Special Edition, and it's listed under the "Falcom" name for publisher. I thought this game was a PSP-exclusive, but if it got a PC-port, maybe XSEED could eventually release it on Steam? Is this port being dealt by Falcom, or some other developer?

That Chinese link goes to Origin. Both of those versions of Seven are the Chinese version. Not sure why Falcom would be listed as the publisher, unless they actually did publish in China. I thought another company did it though.

Oh right, I misread that chinese link. I don't know, when were the Chinese version supposed to be released? Those Ys Seven PC versions were just added on Play-Asia, as "New Releases".

Sometime around the end of July? Don't remember, I didn't really follow it.

Edit: Actually, it was late June. Maybe Play Asia just got their copies. I'm sure if there was a proper Falcom-ported (or sanctioned) PC version of Seven Floofy would be all over it, but I haven't seen anything about it.

And yeah, it's been suggested that we work on the Chinese PC game before, but to do so, we'd have to establish a separate partnership/licensing agreement with the Chinese developer, AND we'd have to work with the Chinese language (which none of us can speak or read). So it seems unlikely -- but isn't completely impossible, I suppose.

If Falcom let the Chinese company port Ys Seven for the PC, I guess that'd mean Falcom won't port the game to the PC anytime soon, or else they'd have done it themselves. I really think Falcom may have let the PC market until otherwise noted, they've been working on the PSP and PS Vita only for a couple of years now.

You already have the script, they didn't make any changes to the game during the porting process did they? Unless you just mean for communication purposes.

But I don't expect the port to be any good anyway. I haven't heard anything bad about it at least. Haven't heard anything good either though. Probably laced with some nice, intrusive DRM at least.

There are other PC Ys games for XSEED to publish, aren't there? Like Ark of Napishtim? I guess that when they run out of Ys PC games, they should try to look into those Chinese ports.

Ark of Napishtim is probably the only one that they could do relatively easily. I & II are kind of a mess, Chronicles isn't a very good version of the game, and Complete would basically need to be redone for modern hardware/operating systems. As a pure 2D game, enhancements like widescreen are out of the question.

Stretching to fullscreen aside (even at 4:3) it's a nice looking game though, so that's not really a problem. Until it goes full screen and gets ugly and pixelated.

An HD version in the same style would be so glorious. But I doubt anyone would be willing to do it.

If they were to put the PC version on steam, wouldn't that mean the profits would be divided into four companies (Valve, Falcom, Xseed, and the Chinese one)? That... doesn't sound, uh, sound.
