Water effects not appearing right in Origin.

    Hi... I'm Black Yoshi.

I've finally enjoyed the chance to play Ys Origin, but one thing has been completely bothered me: water effects not showing right when you're not in a submerged area. I've talked to one of my friends who has the game on a desktop (he has a Radeon series), and his water effects worked well.

While I did bother trying to update my video drivers, unfortunately, that didn't work and instead of seeing underwater clearly, I'm submerged in what looks like dark water, and reflections are not accurate (they only show on the left side of the screen).

(Yes, in case, you want to know, I'm using the god-awful Intel integrated series. I'm running the game in a HP Pavilion dv6-6c43cl.)

Any other way I can remedy my issues short of buying a desktop... or do I have to wait for another solution?

Can you post a picture of the ys origin config screen? I want to see what you have set in it.

Here you go. I'm still digging around for the rest of the settings.

Have you tried checking "Disable Water Caustics"? That may at least improve the appearance of water effects, even if it doesn't leave them looking 100% perfect. And seeing comparison screenshots might help to determine the cause of the problem.

I meant comparison screenshots with "Disable Water Caustics" checked, vs. not checked.

Hopefully we can figure this out -- we just need to go step by step! Sorry for the trouble.

I still get the bad water effects. See attachments.

Maybe I should have bought a different laptop. =/

Water effects not appearing right in Origin. [RESOLVED]

Alright, for all you poor sods like me who are stuck with an Intel-based laptop with the integrated HD GFX setup (and don't have an independent graphics card), the HD Graphics driver update since October 23rd, 2012 will render the water effects correctly (as in crisp, crystal clear rather than dark, muddy, and almost unviewable). As always, get it directly from Intel's site, Windows Update tends to be behind about two or three revisions.

    Problem resolved.

Wow, good show! Glad this finally got resolved, and sorry we couldn't help you figure out some alternative means of making it work.
