Heh, so as soon as this topic got revived, ONE bot made two posts today. Ok, not bad... I think I have the tendency to make them angry. Already on Craigslist I tend to make them mad >_> Ugh, Craigslist bots are annoying and horrible :/

I hesitate to ask....but what do Craigist bots do? And how do you make bots angry? You should totally teach me how to do that. Seriously. Right now. Do it.

Craigslist bots... Well, they are always trying to scam you. They will reply, which is sometimes an obvious indicator of what you get next. They will always say the same few things "I am out of town, my assistant will pick it up." or "I am out of town, if you can ship the item to me" or lastly, the ever so classic "I want to buy this for my son in Afghanistan, if you could ship it out to him". ALWAYS the same 3 pre-typed messages... They will also ask for your name, number, and address, and often will offer to pay you MORE for the item to ship it to them. Obvious scams are obvious.... I mean, why would someone use local listings if they could just use eBay? Also, if you get these messages via text, the numbers will ALWAYS come from another state. So, these bots just send their scams around the country, oh, and they seek out higher priced items to cheat you on, like electronics.

Anyways, this one time I decided to have a little fun Called them out on being a "terrible bot, just like the others". The reply was hilarious and super-engrishy They 'guaranteed' me that they would pay, and said how I had a 'dirty mind' for being skeptical The message also started off with the words "OHH OHHHHHHHHH!!!!" Oh engrish! But... then I got hit with a few others directly after that one :/ Wrath of the bots!

The thing is, although we use the term "bots" it's sort of a loosey term. Usually it's defined as a computerized account, made only to spam, but I consider it on these forums as those making an account, just to advertise some website. Usually selling clothes/jewelery, or download links to movies/tv shows (which is why the movie/tv show thread got hit by them ALL the time!!) Now, they are smarter and have a human behind them, sometimes replying to what people were saying, and occasionally trying to 'add' to the topic. Still, if you see ANY links in their post/signature, report 'em! For Craigslist, these are bad people with those pre-typed messages, trying to make you feel bad (like with the son in war etc) and steal your money/bank account info :/ These also often have a human behind them, but still what they do is robotic.

...I hope this was informative somehow

*nods head* yes quite informative. Thanks. And how does it feel to have a bot say you have a dirty mind? It's ok if you cried. You can tell me. I'd only laugh at you a little bit. I promise.

When they said "dirty mind" I had to re-read it a few times. Engrish can be tough to interpret sometimes! I think it was just their way of saying "how day you think this is a scam!!" Nope! Not sketchy ONE BIT!

I'm sorry but everytime you say Engrish I think of the Chinese dude from South Park. Please tell me if that's why you say it. It's driving me crazy man.

That's weird. Maybe it's the cool thing to do nowadays. Typing things in Russian on Engrish(Dangit now you got me doing it!) forums. I'm totally going to try that. I want to be popular too...

They're baaaaAAAAaaaaack!! >_> This time, in the trend of doing a 1 post on intro, asking "do you know where to buy ____ online?" in a way of making YOU do the work and advertising for THEM. At least, I think that's their intention? And as usual, they have ICQ-only as their IM. Why bother even adding that, I wonder sometimes? If they want to make themselves believable by even adding an IM, seriously, WHY ICQ?!?!

Keep your cool, just hit the report button

And for the ICQ, I think it's because it's the first instant messaging thing of the list when you register an account, it types a random number and that's done. I don't think it goes further than that. The only weird thing is, you don't have to it to register. Maybe because the logo looks nice, i don't know xD
