    Initial D anyone?

I'm a pretty big fan of Initial D, in fact it was part of what got me into manga and anime. The series revolves around a high school student named Takumi Fujiwara who does tofu delivery for his father in a Toyota AE86 Sprinter Trueno GT-APEX, and ends up being sucked into street racing in the mountains.

The best part of the series is that Takumi's car is so underpowered yet because he has such skill due to his tofu delivery lasting for so long (4 years, long before he had his driver's license!) he can beat even the most powerful car on the mountain.

Unfortunately the manga has been out of print for a while, but the anime is out from Funimation and it has a great Eurobeat soundtrack (and CGI that varies in quality from season to season). The dub's not bad either, certainly not as bad as the original Tokyopop dub which had street slang and replaced music. Plus we got 3rd and 4th Stage too!

Eagerly awaiting Stage 5. As much as I love the manga, it's just not the same without the eurobeat and CG drifting. XD
If there were no (developer/publisher) to complain about, we would need to invent it.

Tokyopop's mutilation of this means that I started getting it fairly late. I've picked up all 4 of FUNimation's releases, but I only have a first-edition copy of volume 1 of the manga- BEFORE Tokyopop decided to change everything.

yeah initial d anime is pretty dang good. I remember watching that back in 2005 and being captivated by the atmosphere that the anime evokes.

Besides the Driving, there is only one thing, which I always will be able to associate Initial D with...

I love this show but I find that some of the info on cars they talk about isn't really accurate. Otherwise it's great overall.
