So... Do we actually have any idea when this game is coming out?

I, like I'd presume many other people browsing this board, can't wait to play Last Story. Only problem is I have no idea when the game is going to be released. NintendoLife, IGN, and even Wikipedia say that it will be released on July 10th while GameFAQs, Amazon, and EBGames say it's coming out on the 31st. Regardless, all sources agree that it's coming out this July, and although I haven't heard any official statements regarding a retail date from either Nintendo, Mistwalker, or XSeed; I thought that since July literally starts tomorrow, we would have heard something official by now. So I guess the reason I'm making this thread is to ask if there was an official statement which I just missed and if I should put any faith in either of aforementioned dates. I'm well aware of the possibility that these sites are just pulling placeholder threshold out of nowhere.

Just clarifying, this game does come on a dual-layered disc, correct?

XSEED has yet to announce an official release date themselves and all those 'dates' are placeholders.

I think it's just slightly too big for a single layer disc.

And there's no official date yet. Late July or early August seems likely though.

Hmm... the official website is up , just a splash page and gives a Summer 2012 window release date (maybe it's been up for a while, I just found out about it today). Over at The Last Story page on Nintendo.com they give a July 31 release date, does anyone know if Nintendo puts up tentative dates?

Maybe XSEED will announce the official release date sometime this week/very soon? *crosses fingers*

It'll be XSEED's next game, it's to be expected news very soon.

Like the others have said, there isn't a solid release date, but I'd say a late July/early August date is a pretty reasonable estimate!

Honestly, I'm hoping it'll come out at least a week (or two, maybe, but I'm... doubting that?) before the 3DS Kingdom Hearts does, so it'll have a slight edge on it in terms of release, while at the same time being available for purchase when the new KH is released on the 31st, as people will actually be popping in to game stores during that period, and might see that new, shiny Wii RPG on the shelf and buy it if they have the cash to do so.

The 31st sounds a little place-holder-like, but I'd love to see it out in July so I'll have more time to play it before I leave for school again in late August! ;o And good point about it getting attention if people see it when going for KH, but I worry about RPGs competing!

Either way, I hope we do get an official date soon, so I can spread the word and let friends/other gamers know. Word of mouth is some great marketing. c:

Me too! Which is why I don't think the 31st is terribly ideal for The Last Story, as it would be directly competing with KH on that date. At least with a week or two buffer before, it has some time on its own, while having a greater chance of exposure later on (for people to keep in mind to buy later, perhaps?) Xseed could just as well release it afterwards, of course, but KH is going to bring RPG-liking gamers into game stores (and it's reasonable to assume 3DS players likely have a Wii, due to it also being Nintendo), and if The Last Story was released after, it might not get the same exposure the initial release that KH brings would possibly give it, due to decreased traffic.

Unless some other high-traffic RPG game is coming out around that time. I don't think so?

I read that it will likely come out after Way of The Samurai 4. So yea late july or august could be possible based on that.

Last time I heard, TLS was next. I don't know, maybe things are taking more time than expected with TLS.
