So Adol has amnesia in the new Ys

I'm sure a lot of you read siliconera, but I thought this was interesting.

I know this is Falcom's first original telling of the story, but this seems pretty far out there.

I never got very far in the original Ys IV (only played dawn of Ys on TBGfx) But I don't recall any amnesia elements, unless I'm suffering from it my self :/

This is interesting, I really want an Ys game to go in depth and elaborate as to how Dogi decided to leave and go on a journey with Adol, hopefully they go into at least a little bit of detail with this.

After all, I do find Ys IV chronologically confusing as to when it takes place in the series.

Yeah. From what it sounds like, something happened when Adol got into the center of the great forest, and it struck him of his memories. So he and the others are returning to go back to that point to find out what happened to him.

That's all a new take on this.

I was under the impression that they were going to set this game after Oath (not sure about Mask of the Sun, but I think Dawn of Ys was set before Ys III?) I don't really know if this counts as a spoiler, but at the end of Oath Dogi chose to stay in Felghana temporarily, and if this adventure follows soon after that, it would explain Dogi's absence. And so far there has been a complete lack of Dogi in this reimagining.

And the amnesia thing was revealed along with the game, or at least a while back IIRC. Hopefully they have some interesting ideas in how to incorporate that, since amnesia is kind of a worn out trope.

It would be a real shame to lose that.

As for the amnesia subplot, I too find it a bit odd that they'd be going that route... but if there's one character I don't mind getting amnesia in an RPG, it's Adol. I mean, he's practically a blank slate as it is, so why not make him blanker for a spell?

I hope Dogi's in the game, even if it seems it might not be the case at this point. Though, I'm pretty sure Adol's 19 in Oath in Felghana, so I'm not sure how this would take place after it chronologically.

Ys V takes place after Oath in Felghana, actually. Adol traveled to Xandria alone while Dogi stayed back in Felghana. They end up reuniting again on Adol's way to Ediz, which is where he is for Ark of Napishtim's pre-story.

I just know that at the beginning of Dawn of Ys, Adol is with Dogi on that ship.
