Dunno about if they're from Falcom or not but I have a few Ys manga. I could take a picture of them when I get home.

I know the ones you're talking about.
They're. Erm. Interesting. I can't say I'm 100% a fan of them. They're, so far, covering I and II, but while they were really neat at the beginning, I'm losing my interest in them. They do post a chapter once a month on yahoo comics, for people to read for free, and I think the first chapter is always up.
I'd recommend looking into a chapter or two to be sure of it at first.
Sometimes the mangaka takes liberties that I'm not a fan of. Then sometimes, he turns around and does something that's a neat idea.
Other manga series out there is that there's a really old one that is VERY 80's in its style, then there is the Mask of the Sun manga, which was done by Hitoshi Okuda of Tenchi Muyo! fame- and I actually really enjoy that one a lot, despite the liberties it takes as well.
There are a few others out there, but those are the ones I can think of immediately.
