Still, 4 just... seemed like a good, final end for him, you know? Not gunna say what happened or spoil anything of course, but still.
EDIT: Then again... the story was supposed to end with 2 as well, but that not appening gave us 3... if we get a game as good as that... I'll buy it. :3

Kojima, just work on something new. I know it won't net as much money as a turd that just says "Metal Gear ______" on it, but it's really just time and I'm sure a new, blank slate would be nice!
What more can they possibly do with this series? They can't go beyond MGS4 because that truly concluded the series, and I don't think there's anything else to cover in a prequel.
Full remakes of Metal Gear 1 and 2, on the other hand, would be amazing.

Yeah I'm with it too. I liked them so much, though my favourites are Metal Gear Solid 1 and 2.
Well I honestly don't like what they are doing with Metal Gear Rising, so... I don't know if I have to be happy or sad if they're thinking on working on a new Metal Gear Solid without the massive work of mister Kojima.
And this is precisely why the series jumped the shark ages ago (even though I was never particularly a fan).
