Well think about it, do you really think any company is going to release a RETAIL only game on a basically dying system right now without making a huge loss?
Well, I would love to be proven wrong then. And like I said before, it's a wait and see thing at the moment.
Atlus and Aksys have released retail psp games this year, so no, I think it's still a valid way to release a game. Most people forget that UMD is one of the cheapest forms of media available to produce. Far more so then on Vita/DS/3DS/PS3
Well, there's a difference, those retail PSP games have PSN versions which is something SC is lacking at the moment.
Releasing SC retail-only (No Digital version) now is a massive risk that could really cost XSEED as where's the guarantee that it will break even just like that?
And right now, we all just have to 'Wait and See'. Alright?
But is it cheaper then just putting it up on Steam, which is really the only other option at this point. Don't get me wrong I would LOVE to see a physical PSP release but I'm really skeptical that it's going to happen especially considering that SC probably won't be released until next year hurting the chances even more.![]()
But this argument is pointless let's just be friends, wait and see, and hope for the best.![]()

What Deej said, I know we all love to see a physical PSP release of SC but right now there are so many issues that might make it more trouble than it's worth for both XSEED and Falcom.
The answer isn't choosing one or the other. I believe it should release on both platforms. Then everyone's happy. There's no reason to limit it to just PSP or just Steam.
Yes, if it's financially viable...urgh, how about we all just wait and see how both companies deal with this?
Fabrizo there are production costs tied to a physical release on PSP that are not tied to a PSN or Steam release.
These costs are higher than regular production costs.
If you are unaware Xseed has been releasing many games digital only recently for the sake of those costs because they cannot afford them.
Many of those games sell about the same or even more than SC would be expected to sell generally.
The game simply does not function for a PSN release.
The game does function for a Steam release.
We know you would prefer a PSP release.
Many other people would as well.
Falcom would have to spend an estimated year making a PSN compatible version.
Which would offer almost no sales in Japan.
And involve completely re-writing either the way the two UMDs are handled or re-writing the entire game with the ao/zero compression system.
I've seen you try and argue about this in more than one thread, we know and you know, there's no point in trying to raise a debate to which everyone already knows the answers to. Yes in an ideal world we'd get them released on everything possible. This isn't an ideal world.
