    UPDATE:

This is, in fact, a bug! Must be a bug from the original, too, unless something *very* bizarre happened with Sara's coding.

Apparently, if you enter Time Attack mode, then exit it, THEN load up your savegame in Nightmare... SP gain will be normal! But otherwise, it's 1 apiece, no matter what.

No clue how something like this came to be, but we'll definitely look into fixing it for a future patch. Sorry for any confusion!

Are you sure That is not a bug?

E: If it really is a bug it seems to be from original Japanese version. ALoY thread, spoilers, don't read if you do not want spoilers

That's... annoying. Kind of makes me hesitant to start Nightmare after I finish hard. I guess if all you have to do is go into the Time Attack menu it's not too bad, hopefully a fix is found for that though.

Ooh. Sara just found something interesting.

Apparently, you're meant to get only 1 SP pretty much everywhere when playing in Nightmare mode. The ability to get around it by opening Time Attack? THAT'S the bug.

For now, it shall be left alone. But enjoy it while you can, as there's no guarantee we'll keep it. Mwa ha ha.

Yeah, basically it checks your difficulty to decide the multiplier on SP gain.
In Nightmare? The multiplier is... 0.01.
Definitely intended to be that low.

well then that means I'll get those blessing achievments on very easy mode! Dear Ys will it be funny to annihilate those bosses after training on nightmare mode!

And what are the multipliers for other difficulty modes?

So my first guess was right then. Well, that's going to make things more difficult than I expected. Makes it sound like the increased SP rate blessing will probably be completely useless on Nightmare too.

Not that you would ever be able to afford it outside of imported SP. I'll probably just make sure I have enough SP for armor improvements from the start and save them for that.
