E3 2012 Discussion Thread of Hype, Tears, and Disappointment

Ratchet&Clank HD Collection to come with Deadlocked HD either on-disc or on a bonus pre-order disc (vouchers can gtfo).
Final Fantasy X HD preview of some sort.
Some more HD Collections (Kingdom Hearts, .Hack, Wild Arms, etc.)

Give me all those things and I'll come away very happy with E3. But I don't actually thing that stuff with the HD collections will happen (just wishful thinking).

HD collection from PS2 games..I wonder if I should buy. For short games like ICO and Zone of the enders it'S like an ok to say ''Let's have a reason to play it again '' but for long games..I wonder....

I am mostly looking forward to Nintendo's COnference for... Nintendo news, I guess. I will watch the other ones though. What I ould like to see however, is:

-Pandora's Tower NA Announcement
-Fatal Frame II NA Announcement
-Fatal Frame IV NA Annoucement (a girl can wish...)
-Fire Emblem Awakening NA Announcement
-Fire Emblem 3 NA Announcement (Again...)
-Orange 3DS or 3DS redesign
-Pikmin 3 Details
-Last Window NA Announcement (...)
-Hopefully new, interesting games

That is all from Nintendo of course. I am not sure what to expect from anyone else, also have no idea where to get non conference info.

I'm looking forward to Nintendo's conference, but it's primarily just to see what they announce for WiiU to see if I actually want one anytime soon. Regret buying my 3DS due to the price drop and all. I don't really expect much Wii talk or announcements at all though, it will probably be all WiiU and 3DS, with maybe one or two more Wii titles to finish out the year before the new console hits. Nintendo isn't exactly well known for supporting their consoles after a successor hits.

Also, I guess I'm in the minority that's not expecting a 3DS redesign anytime soon. It's probably still a couple years off. I don't think they'll ever add in a second analog nub, that would split the market. I also don't think they'll make a smaller revision. When it does get revised, it will probably just be a slightly new design (matte, maybe more rounded like the DSi) with better battery life thanks to die shrinks, and maybe an XL version to go alongside it.

You're giving Nintendo way too much credit when historically they have released a new portable version pretty much once a year (or more).

They already made a 2nd analog for the original 3DS, its just not a pack in. I see no reason for them not to build it into a redesign, it'll still be available for owners of the original version after all. And even if that wasn't the case, Nintendo can just require all games to work without it for those that don't have the add-on/revision.

I think people seem to think they remember them doing it more often than they actually did. The main outliers are GBA SP and arguably the DSi XL, though that didn't really replace the DSi. The fat DS -> DS Lite is an odd one out since the original DS was rushed and that design wasn't really even intended to make it to market. PSP gets thanks for that one.

There's really nothing to revise with the 3DS though. Nintendo fixed the screen issue quite a while ago, and like I said, I don't see them fragmenting the market with a second analog nub. Battery life isn't going to get any better until they can do a die shrink, and they probably aren't going to put the effort into redesigning all their chips for each node more than once. So after couple more years, they can do one redesign for a more power efficient system, make some modifications to the shell, and bam, "redesign." Can't really be made much smaller, but they can make it bigger (XL).

If they were going to revise it soon, I don't think they would start releasing new colors either, but they just announced a new one just a couple weeks ago IIRC? Don't even think it's available yet. But hey, I'm always wrong. So maybe there will be some sort of miraculous 3DSL at E3, but I'll eat my non-existent hat if that's the case.

I wonder if Microsoft will be teasing their new Xbox to compete with Nintendo. It's safe to say that Sony's conference will mostly focus on the Vita and Nintendo's will be the WiiU. Nintendo will probably 'win' E3 this year with Sony coming in 2nd. I am pretty hyped to see the Vita news though.

Nintendo is going to have a Nintendo Direct on the 3rd (tomorrow). Interesting decision, since that will give them a show both before and after Microsoft and Sony's.

Looks like it's primarily going to be about the WiiU hardware and concept. Then they can focus on software and 3DS at their main press conference.
