Medabots 7: Kabuto and Kuwagata (3DS)

Last year, a new Medabots game was announced for the Nintendo 3DS. This week, retail blog, Sinobi, has a release date for the two versions of the game from Famitsu magazine.

Medabots 7: Kabuto Ver. and Medabots 7: Kuwagata Ver. will be released on September 13th, 2012. We’ll have more information as it becomes available.

    Thank you based Shizuka!

My little robots will return, I smite Harvest Moon fans who proclaimed this franchise dead!
Because that's only true in the west
And I came here just to post this, but as expected, it's here already.

Even if it is localized, I'm still grabbing this come September. The Medabots games are always fun, even if you have no idea what's going on with the plot and have to use a flowchart.

Takao, do you know if maybe the price of the license is why the publishers are not quite interested on localizing Medabots games?

As far as I know, Rocket and Natsume are the only companies with the rights for the games in japan. So Natsume probably wouldn't even need to do any license wrangling if they somehow localized it.

I don't believe that would be the case. While the series publisher Rocket Company (a subsidiary of Imagineer) hasn't had many of their titles localized I imagine it would have to be due to viability more so than them being unruly to work with. Their first 3DS title, Runabout 3D was picked up for localization by Majesco. I wouldn't rule out all hope though, since this is only the third Medarot game since Infinity was localized. No one wanted Shingata Medarot (a remake of the first game in the series with an ... interesting art style), and Medarot DS (which I suppose we can also now call it Medarot 6) came a bit too late into the DS's life cycle.

As someone who owns a JP copy of Medarot DS (Kuwagata), preach it brother! Unfortunately the 3DS region lock will mean I'm not going to be able to this time around

The scans we've received are too small to make judgments on the visuals, but it appears that for the first time in franchise history a new iteration in the series will not be leading off with new KBT and KWG models as the mascots, but rather Rokusho and Metabee again?! Based on the fact that Azuma is still the lead which is the second we've gotten a sequel with the same lead after Ikki was the lead in Medarot 2, 3 and 4 (he was replaced by Koishimaru in Medarot 5, and of course by Azuma in Medarot DS - Ikki replaced the star of the first game Henry/Hikaru) it's safe to say this is a direct sequel to Medarot DS. While Horumarin did do art for the game, it appears he is not the main illustrator this time around.

More info revealed: It's a prequel, contains AR and mini-games.

    Screens:

Horumarin is indeed an artist on this one, but it's shared duties with someone calling themselves "Mook"...

The fact that it's a prequel with Medabee and Rokusho as the main medabots actually DOES give me some hope to a US release.

Online battle and Street Pass, that'll be interesting as well.
