    Greatest movie ever

The Matrix stands as a true masterpiece and the very best that cinematography has to offer. It is incomparable. It is unique. It's an action movie and it's a philosophical movie. It has set the standard for all movies. No other movie has approached its level of quality.
It's also the reason why I don't watch action movies anymore. In an industry of Transformers and G.I. Joes, it's hard to get excited about anything these days.

i care to disagree here adrian-kun.the first movie was great.the second was ok and the third just sucked big time because of the ending.the action were good in all 3 but the philosophical/plot went to hell in the third installment.

I am ONLY talking about the first movie. Both Reloaded and Revolutions proved to be quite the disappointment. The ending in the third movie was particularly unimpressive and anticlimactic. Although, now that I think about it, maybe it wasn't all that bad. We keep expecting good things to happen. Just as there are no good endings in life, why should it be any different with movies? Now I'm getting all philosophical

Ever watch Ghost in the Shell? It's some of the most direct inspiration for the show. Unique? Considering GitS, not really. Incomparable? That depends on what movies you personally enjoy. Set the standards for all movies? I can think of other movies that have literally CHANGED the film industry. This one, not so much. Unless you consider parodies, in which I think I saw the slow-mo bullet fly at least a million times. As for quality, same thing. It's a good action movie, but I've never seen it as something SUPER amazing. I can just think of alot of other movies that really stand out, and have remained classics. Along with unique...

With these bold statements, I have to state my own personal opinions on it. Especially since you stated it with "it is" and not "I believe".

The matrix the first one was really good for the story for me but the rest really where a huge let down for me. As for me one of the movies I liked a lot was The Sky Crawlers and I know its a lot of talking but for me it let me see the certain aspects of war and how it affects people. The story grabs you as you get to see the struggle of the protagonist plus the movie is just plain awesome!

    Your opinion is always appreciated.
Still, Ghost in the Shell is an anime. It's far easier to do crazy things in a cartoon.
And speaking of Japanese animation, have you seen the Appleseed movies?
