    Which version of Oath?

For someone new to the Ys series, which version of Oath is the better one to get? The PSP version of the Steam version?

Welcome new member! Well the PC has achievements and widescreen support while the PSP version has voice acting and extra features the PC version doesn't have.

Though, it's really up to you. Or you could give the upcoming Ys Origin a try.

Or you could get both and really support Xseed. Remember when you double dip* everyone wins.

*Except with chip or vegetable dip at parties you really shouldn't double dip at those it's not polite.

I personally would go for the Steam version because it looks soo much smoother. If you buy PSP games from PSN then you should get both since they are cheap and it would help Xseed and Falcom.

I know I shouldn't play favorites... but personally, I like the PSP version better due to the voice-acting, the selectable soundtracks, the addition of room retry, the addition of a prologue and the inclusion of double-boost (which some say breaks the game, but I say it balances it really well).

It all comes down to what matters more to you, though: if you care more about visual fidelity, achievements and leaderboards, the Steam version is definitely the better choice. If you care more about voice-acting and gameplay features, go for the PSP.

Thanks for the input, everyone! I think I'll be going with the PSP version, though after reading some of the threads here I'll probably start with Ys 7. Any idea if the Ys 7 limited edition will ever be back in stock in the Xseed store?

I don't know if the official limited edition will be back in the store but I do know that you can buy all the components for a good price from the store. That's what I did the only real downside is that you can't get the nifty box to keep.it all in.

Doubt it will ever be available new anywhere, unless somebody finds some stock in a warehouse somewhere.

But yeah, you can buy all the contents of the LE from XSEED's store. Map+Artbook+Soundtrack, I didn't buy the LE but I ended up getting all three of those anyway (mainly because I wanted the Oath + Seven soundtracks and I needed to spend $10 more.....)

And personally I'd go with the PC version, but then again I'd go with the PC version of any game unless it happens to be broken somehow.

I personally prefer the steam version due to it's graphical superiority and achievements.

    In my opinion: Steam version.
Harder (thus) more replayability value, looks better and you can use an arcade stick to play it.
I really dislike PSP's double boost.
