The game took me roughly sixty hours to complete, having done almost all the quests with the exception of raising the last monster to max PP level. I was a bit disappointed with the ending, but I have paid the same amount of money as this for a poor movie and popcorn with the cinema's prices nowadays, so sixty hours is definitely a steal for its price tag. The characters were also much more likable than I initially thought they were going to be. When looking at the promotional webpage I was rolling my eyes at some of the concepts/voices, but I was pleasantly surprised that they weren't as flat as I thought they would be.
Overall it's an enjoyable game, although I wish gathering wasn't so RNG based and follower battle requirements could be met through the course of natural gameplay/unchaining. Having to actually stop and unchain at certain intervals in the game is a poor design choice. (This could have easily been fixed had they made the unchain action automatic but you only get one shot at it each proc. The main reason I had trouble gathering followers rolling around was because I would kill the unchained enemy by accident before the four party members each took their turn.) Does the sequel help to make either of these drawbacks less sufferable? They're the main two things I would fix that come to mind.
