Will Unchained Blades be compatible for the Vita?

Well, like it says, can it be downloaded and played on the Vita?

I'd assume any PSP game getting released would also be Vita compatible at release at this point. Then again this is Sony we're dealing with here, so you might have to arbitrarily wait 6+ months while they have it in their queue to check it and eventually "activate" it.

It's a matter with Sony and the developer, not every single PSP game getting released on the future will be Vita compatible at launch. Hakuoki wasn't, and still isn't.

I would like to know this too. I kind of hate playing games on the PSP after getting a Vita so it would be awesome if I could play this on it. I love the PSP for a lot of reasons but I could never get used to that terrible analogue nub and the Vita screen is vastly superior too.

Awww. I still prefer the analog nub on the PSP to the analog sticks on the Vita, and I definitely like the PSP's interface a lot more as well (no need for touchscreen!). Plus, TV-out!

Still, I hope the game is compatible with Vita as well. Fingers crossed!

That PSP nub still gives me thumb cramps after probably a lot over 1000 hours of PSP gaming, lol. If there were three things I could change about the PSP it would be to add another analogue nub, change the nubs into sticks and have another solution than that noisy UMD-drive. That's what Sony did with the Vita so good news for me! I've never used the TV-out but I get that some people like it though.

At least Unchained Blades doesn't use the UMD-drive, lol.

So when will we know if it's Vita compatible? Do you submit it to Sony and they test it for compatibility or is it something you can do yourselves? They probably have a long list of games which needs to be tested right now so I imagine that would take time? Hopefully new releases would get priority.

I hope I don't sound whiny and I will definitely get the game either way but it would be nicer (according to personal preferences) to play it on the Vita.

I like the PSP analog nub, my only complaint is I wish there were two of them.

We won't know if it's Vita compatible until it's released, actually. That is literally 100% up to Sony. Theoretically, new releases should get priority, but as Shizuka noted, Hakuouki -- which was released right around the time of the Vita's launch -- is still not Vita-compatible, so it really is impossible to say.

If I had to venture a guess, though, I'd guess it will be. But until launch, a guess is the best I can do -- sorry!

As for the PSP, I've always found the nub much more gentle on my thumb than analog sticks -- particularly Sony's convex analog sticks, which are shaped in such a way that as soon as my hands get even slightly sweaty from intense gaming, my thumbs start to slip off CONSTANTLY. The PSP's nub is flat and grooved, so I find it much easier to use no matter how sweaty my hands may be.

Also, while the UMD drive may have been a tiny bit noisy, UMDs were also *much* cheaper to produce than flash memory cartridges, due to the fact that they were essentially just mini-DVDs (and optical media is ridiculously inexpensive compared to digital media!). So while the Vita's format is smaller, quicker and quieter, it also takes a lot more money to produce, which means gamers will likely be seeing far fewer niche titles published physically on the system.

I guess for some, it's a fair trade-off... but for me, it's UMDs all the way.

...In case you couldn't tell, I'm a die-hard PSP fanboy. It's one of my favorite systems I've ever owned. (:

I have to admit: I must be in the super-minority that was never really bugged by UMD "BZZT!" noises or loading times. I mean, I've been used to it on PS2 games and whatnot, so it never really bothered me *shrug*

However I must say, it's WEIRD going from Vita back onto PSP. I had a bit of time and put in Ys Chronicles (and kept dying from the first monster... bump system... I thought it would be easier) and it just felt alot more bulkier than Vita. I definitely see why people would prefer to play it on there though!

(...I will go back to Ys I eventually... I just wasn't able to get Wifi all the time during my trip to look up tips, so I think I popped in something on the DS instead >_>)

Bump system's hard to get used to, but very much worth it in the end. Trust me... once you've gotten the hang of it, you'll be lovin' it!
