If I were to go offline

Let's just say that I were to somehow go offline and beat a difficulty level. If I log back online, will I get the achievement for doing so?

I guess not. Isn't it same for other Steam games?

Is there really an achievement for that? Quake Live has one for (IIRC) more than 10 consecutive hours of play that says "Call your family, they're probably worried."

20 hours on a single playthrough. That doesn't mean straight, though -- you can save your game and pick it back up later easily enough.

To be honest, I'm not sure if the achievement would trigger upon going online again. I'd have to ask Sara how she implemented it. Sara, you around?

Sounds like a no, then, unfortunately...

Okay, so, according to Valve's own documentation, unless the game specifically checks for offline mode and prevents achievements/stats then (older games use this method because it was suggested before support was implemented), it will keep them in a local cache. From there, it will upload any changes when you next come online on Steam with that PC.

Steam's stat tracking is somewhat notorious for being slightly buggy and not always updating correctly (or in a timely manner) though, which can explain such a display discrepancy.
