I played it a long time ago when I still had a Gamecube. If you liked the first game, you're going to love Baten Kaitos Origins but if you didn't played the first game don't worry because this game is a prequel.

yeah just read that the game is turn based which is my style but i also read that leveling up is not conventional because you hafta go to a church to do it or something.would you care to explain about that yuki-chan?

You get experience defeating enemies, but to use that experience you have to pray in the church and you can raise your level there. This game has a card battle system, here's a gameplay video:

I'll be back, after supper I'll tell you all about that great game Perrandy!

Reyvard > Want me to find you one This one is hard to get, but still

So, where to start! First of all I must say that someone made a mistake here. In Baten Kaitos Origins, you do not have to go into a church to level up, it's automaatic (unless the person meant BK2 as being eternal wings)

So, what about Baten Kaitos. First, it's an excellent prequel. I beleive you can play Origins before the original, but still I would rather advice you to do the opposite, because that will make Origins even better. Origins is way faster then eternal wings. The deck is not divided by character. There's only one deck for the three char. Every character appearing in BK Eternal Wings has his/her background in Origins.

    Pros :

    Faster battle system
    Excellent and lovable characters
    Flawless voice acting -Tom
    Graphicly amazing
    Loyal to the original game
Abusive bosses (I've got some saves in which I can't rebeat the boss...) ... For god's sake save in another slot before inserting CD 2
The end of Origins means the beginning of the story of Eternal Wings

    Cons :

    No more abusive combo
Easy to see the story coming
    Could miss the real ending

Was not totally in for a wall of text guys >< (edit : Yes, this is no wall of text)

Perrandy, you said Baten Kaitos 2. That means Baten Kaitos Origins in my book since it's the second that has been released.

Then about some information on Baten Kaitos.

Basically, the game is great. The biggest down is the battle system's speed. Really~~~~~~~ slow! You have three characters in your party, every char has its own card deck. It's a turned-base card game.
Graphicly it's georgous, the character all have a background (some aren't that developped, but are more in Origins). The game has a good story (which was easy to guess, sadly) and great dungeons but horrible voice acting. Not as bad as Arc Rise Fantasia (that one sure is hard to beat...) but still.

The cards are more developped in this one then in Origins since the cards age. Milk will become cheese and meat will become rotten meat overtime and certain cards can after your stats. Have plenty of rotten meat on you and your HP will be cut. You can also do some combos, beause cards have number in one or more corners. With those numbers you can do anything.. Like finish the game level 3 (that's what Japanese can do XD).
Also for the level up, you must find a save flower, with that you can go to the Altar of whatever it was called and pray to get your level or class up (more cards in deck if I remember well, it's been years!)

It's one of the 4 greatest games on GC. One of my favorite RPG, I say you give it a try.
