i find game faq the the manual tad frustating

as title implies.
i started playing the game, and as i was skimming the manual,it felt tad lacking.
as example, i saw on youtube a fellow using a certain map interface that did not seem to be mentioned at the map config' which i could not change to my convience for navigating [i some how ended up walking in circles].
the other matter is, the orbment fusing, even early at the game.
there is the example mentioned at the manual for estelle, but in game, i could not find it.
if i was not very clear on my rant, ill try to rephrase it

I was a bit confused with the manual too. What do you mean by "map config"? Sometimes, you can push the square button to show more details on a map. Orbment fusing? Isn't that just using the sepith that you get from battles to make new quartz? I would have liked the manual to explain the "lines" a bit better.

You need sepith to create quartz that you put into your orbment. The lines on the orbment are what connects the quartz together. Depending on what color, look in the window that shows what colors the quartz will give you, it will give you spells you can cast. The more quartz you put in along the line. The more spells you get. There is a page in your bracer handbook that tells you all the quartz color requirements to get the spells along the line.

I personally thought the paper manual was great in terms of bursting with colour and information and the ingame tutorials and pop up bracer book was a huge source of information. Hell, it even gives you every single possible spell and how to unlock it.

Ohh... awww....Yes, I found that useful too. I would have preferred the orbment menu for each character to be larger though, so I wouldn't have to scroll through to see if I slotted things correctly. I also had trouble with identifying some of the "ailment" icons while in a battle.

apologies for the necro, had a rough time with the net past month :s
at any rate paper manual wise regarding the orbment art mentioned in page 47 "lets make some art" which mentions as example firebolt ex.
i followed instrucions in game, i unlocked some sockets, yet still, cant seem to craft or combine new orbment arts.
unless it was a new game plus sort of thing, i saw on youtube an air spell i wasnt fammiliar with casted by estelle.
