Awesome that you guys are doing this, PSN only or not.

Just a quick question... will you guys be editing the game at all? Namely the Torture minigames, and the whole "Night Crawling" thing.

They did say the game would be unedited and besides, they aren't programmers.

No editing whatsoever. You get the full-on torture and night-crawling experience.

Personally wouldn't of minded if you did cut the Torture stuff....

Having to do them (all three in a row at that) to get the best ending, really not cool at all.

Anyway, thanks for the quick response.

I haven't really played any of the other games in the series, but this looks rather interesting. Anyone have any suggestions as to the best place to start with the series?

Also: Anyone know if the DLC is likely to be made available in the west? I do love me some Shinsengumi/Hijikata Toshizo references.

There won't be any need to if we're getting the Plus version, which has all the DLC included. I kind of doubt we will though, XSeed isn't going to pass up easy money.

I'm not familiar with this series, but I'm getting a serious Yakuza vibe... Is it kind of like those games, just in, you know, a different time period? Would someone who likes Yakuza dig Way of the Samurai?

Yeah... it's kinda similar. The biggest difference (aside from time period) is probably the tone and atmosphere. The Yakuza games typically take themselves rather seriously and are extremely dramatic, whereas this... does not and is not. (: Samurai 4 is decidedly goofy and over-the-top, and while it does play off its bizarre situations and ridiculous characters with a straight face most of the time, it's honestly pretty hilarious and might be a hard game to get into if you insist upon historical accuracy or utter seriousness.

I like to say that Way of the Samurai 4 is a good game to play when you're drunk. In fact, I think inebriation is probably ideal for getting full enjoyment out of this title. Because trust me, if you're really tired or drunk, this game will pretty much be the FUNNIEST THING EVER to you. (:
