My Biggest Problem with Oath in Felghana

You can't pause in boss battles.

You can if you don't play in full screen just click outside of the window and the game will pause automatically.

I remember in the oldchool Ys games you could never pause in battles. I'm glad we can now!

Sara will correct me if I'm wrong... but I'm pretty sure that's technically a lot more difficult to do than you might think, and would open the door for a whole host of new bugs/glitches.

I really don't see it happening, I'm afraid. Sorry!

Can't you already use the existing menu at any point other than boss battles and conversations? And during the latter the pause button would be redundant since the text won't scroll until you tell it to.

But adding a "layer" like that over the whole game could definitely cause some problems since it's not designed with it in mind. I'd assume, at least, since I don't know how it's programmed.
