Ys 1 and 2 not in online store

Considering the license for Brave Story has completely lapsed (meaning you can't buy it new anymore at all, and due to licensing conflicts we can't get it back)... I kinda doubt that one's getting added, sadly.

I think it would at least be nice if the people who already owned it could transfer it. Sony isn't setting a very good precedent by restricting backward compatibility of games people already purchased due to licensing issues that should really only impact new purchases.

Well, I can't say for sure that they won't, but I strongly suspect they won't due to the way Vita transfers work. As I understand it, any PSP game downloaded before a certain firmware update doesn't have the necessary code in it for Vita transfer, which is why some people have to redownload their games before they can transfer them to the Vita.

Given that Brave Story's licensed has lapsed, I really doubt it has the necessary code in it for transfer to the Vita, and it seems pretty unlikely that the game code would be altered at all if the game is no longer officially available for purchase.

I hope I'm wrong, but it just... stands to reason, I think.

A quick way to determine whether or not your game may be compatible is when you access the game on your PS3, you used to have to install it or something. You can't now. You access it, and it will ask for you to hook up a PSP or Vita to transfer the game.

Also, a lot of the situation with PSP games on the Vita is partly due to issues from PSP emulation on it. I heard an interview where they were saying that, before they will look into making the PS1 classics run on the Vita, they want to complete the PSP emulation that the Vita has on it. So it might be fixed over a period of firmware updates.

Yeah, that's what it says for Brave Story. Says it can be transferred to a PSP system, and in the subtext it says something about "If using a PS Vita, USB, content manager, etc etc." Doesn't show up on Content Manager though.

I remember what Tom is talking about, since you had to redownload games to get them to transfer, but that change was on Sony's end and not the original developers if I understand correctly. Hopefully it will start working in a future update along with games like Ys Chronicles. I don't have a lot of faith in Sony though.

Ah, that's good to know. We're referring to the North American PSN store, where Chronicles is not yet officially compatible. If it's been made compatible in Europe, however, I'd say that bodes well for its American counterpart.

Heard anything yet Wyrdwad as to why you guys don't have the game in your online store?

I'm glad that I picked up chronicles after seeing the Premium edition at my gamestop for awhile, one day I just decided to grab it. I used to have Brave Story, I remember I bought for like $40 or something from a store that is like 40 minutes from my town. I didn't play it much, but my house got robbed a few years ago and that was sadly one of the several things that got taken, and then it went off of psn. I wish I still had it though, I bet I'd be able to appreciate it more now. I just really don't want to order it/pay for it again, it's a shame
