But you won't be able to acquire games you don't already own. I mean, I've bought tons of Genesis games on cartridge that were hidden gems I had no idea about until some guy brought it up on a forum. You can't do this forever with DD.

Slur, please... I appreciate that you're defending us, I really do, but please don't start flaming other people (or making offensive similes) for expressing their opinions, even if you strongly disagree with them.

Let's try to keep this a friendly place, even in times of announcements that some find disappointing.

XSEED has said on numerous occasions that physical isn't gone but if you've got a niche release that's worth releasing, you're not going to lose money to release a great that's worth localizing but not a worthwhile risk for a physical release. I'd imagine Ys, for example, would certainly get a physical release (PC aside). It doesn't do anyone any good to release physical on every release if that means going bankrupt doing so.

While PSN won't last forever, there's nothing stopping you from the same old backup methods that have been used for physical games. You just have one less point of failure by removing the physical medium so only a hardware failure could potentially cause a loss. Unless you're talking about Steam anyway. Since I don't have that I'm not sure what would be a good way of trying to cope in a post-Steam world.
In a post-Steam world, all your Steam games will simply be unlocked so you can play them without connecting to the service. Valve isn't legally obligated to do that, but apparently the system is in place to do it and Gabe has said that's what they plan to do if things somehow get awry enough. But I can't imagine that happening anytime soon.

I think PSN is more questionable if only because of the whole closed platform thing.

And if that doesn't happen you have...alternatives. DD on PC will not die in the near future...
...who knows what'll happen on consoles though...

No it wont die on the PC. With the F2P micro-transaction business model on the rise for the PC, I dont see DD dying on PC even if steam happens to shut down.

I honestly don't care if a game is DD only as long as I can play the game and understand it in english I'm good to go. Yes, I'd prefer a physical copy in my hand which is why I pre-order every game that I love and want to support when I get it but I'm happy just to be able to play games I never thought I'd be able to. I'm very flexable in that aspect. We should be happy that they are even using time and money to localized these.

Just wish it would be more titles that I actually care about. >.>

Oh, I'm with you-if New Love Plus, Beyond the Future, or Digimon World were the next DD titles, I'd buy them in a heartbeat. <3

Should I take this as an inadvertent confirmation that XSeed is phasing out physical releases from all future titles after Last Story? If so, I am extremely disappointed, though I will continue to purchase your games that I find interesting enough.

Also, god damn, this is your forum, if someone is being a nuisance just ban them. LET'S POSITIVE THINKING nonsense won't keep the trolls away. Show some spine, some professionalism.

I think you're reading a tad too much into that statement.

This is the internet. It's what people do.

Also, Wyrdwad totally had the chance to respond to my original post and he chose to plead to a troll instead. I will be perfectly content if he tells me "Sorry, can't answer that."
