XSEED probably has the NPD write up on the results the older games did. Maybe the sales of Way of the Samurai 3 really did not paint a pretty picture for retail?

If that was the case, wouldn't it be better to drop the game altogether?

Post deleted, VernorsMan. In addition to suspecting you're Nephlabobo on an alternate account (which is VERY MUCH against our rules!), we also won't tolerate that kind of slander against our company. We care about our customers... that's why we pick the games we pick and do the best job we possibly can with them.

Sometimes, though, we just have to release our games digital-only. And sadly, I'm not at liberty to say why, but rest assured it was an unavoidable thing.

We still have physical releases on the horizon, so we haven't gone 100% digital-only just yet... but we've been saying for months now that we're headed in a digital direction, and that the majority of our future titles will be digital-only. We're truly sorry if this upsets any of you, but it's our only choice. Yes, even for this game. It's digital-only or nothing.

Would you rather a company drop potentially profitable releases because there are releases that could bring in more revenue?

That is the same line of thinking that used to get Tales games not localized btw.

As much as I love to import games there is a limit to how much I can do that I have to say thanks for getting games over to the states in any form you can because it does save money.

So is there a point to complaining about it being DD and then trying to make Way of the samurai look bad?

If you cared about customers, you would listen to them, not give them constant and mysterious "reasons" that "you're not at liberty to say" and "can't divulge".

Point blank - when you go digital only, there is a large part of the consumer base that feels, no matter how many "reasons" you give and how many times you say you are sorry, that you simply don't care. And the more you say sorry but continue to go digital, the more that resentment is going to build because it feels like false platitudes and XSeed is just humouring people but doesn't really care what they think. That is not slander, that is the growing perception. And people don't like being treated like that.

It boggles my mind that NISA can announce THREE new disc based JRPGs when the genre is supposedly dead, but you can't announce one physical title.
    It just doesn't add up.

If they were potentially profitable, why DD-only? If the third game sales were weak, why bothering with the sequel?

Lower the risk factor, and increase the profit percentage?

You guys have to remember, this game has already been translated.
