The Vita is selling poorly right now, which sucks. I'm waiting for some more titles and hopefully a time period where there aren't so many games coming out to purchase one. Nintendo's 3DS sold well because Nintendo have made there brand geared towards casual gamers, so I feel like it is selling more because of that and the marketing that it has done and the 3D gimmick. Vita needs some (and I hate to say this) popular fps type games to be on there, all of the jabronis will buy it and then hardware sales will go up, and hopefully with that, we'll see more intuitive JRPGs right now. Orgarhythm definitely seems like it is one of those games that shows off its features, but I don't think a Sony product can survive focusing on it's external gimmicks and not release any heavy hitters for awhile like Nintendo can, I think we need some quality titles that will that it is capable of being a worthy gaming product to own, and not just a high-tech gadget with a lot of gimmicks, it will happen, we just need to wait.

No, 3DS is selling because its about half the price of the Vita and had about year head start to increase its games library. Vita will do fine as long as Sony has a quality lineup available by xmas and gets a steady stream of new titles going.

Yeah but at the start, it wasn't that cheap. You definitely have a point, but nobody can deny that Casual gamers are usually more likely to get a Nintendo product.

SIN, have you played some of the stages in the 2nd half of Mario 3D Land? Some of these are anything but casual, lol. Just cause a brand is popular, doesn't mean its casual. Or look at the Kid Icarus game. Haha

Nintendo is aiming for the whole market right now, not just casuals or core.

And at the start, it sold abysmally. That's why Nintendo slashed the price.

Sony isn't able to do that, though, given how much more expensive the Vita is to produce. It's sort of the catch-22 of creating a hi-tech system.

They can, however, bundle memory cards, lower their prices and everything else like that. The 3DS was $250 at launch, while the PS Vita really is, at least, $270 at launch.

Honestly, I don't get all the fuss about the price of memory cards on the Vita. Yeah, they're expensive... but does anyone remember how expensive Memory Stick Duos were at the launch of the PSP? I only ever got an 8 GB one because the 16 GB ones were $80 back when they were first debuted.

The prices of Vita memory cards are much, MUCH cheaper than Memory Sticks were at this same time in the PSP's lifespan. So for me, I find the price Sony's asking for them to be completely fair.

It makes them look like highwaymen compared to the price of an sd card for the 3DS.

You cannot compare the PS Vita to the PSP for that purpose, or else you'll get the same result the PSP had in North America.

Stories of the PSP's failure in North America are greatly exaggerated.

I see what you're saying, but I dunno... I guess I'm just a fan of comparative economics. I mean, whenever people complain about the price of gas around here, I'm always like, "dude, have you ever been to England? Or how about Japan? Gas prices here are freaking CHEAP!"

I suppose the 3DS has indeed one-upped the Vita in terms of cheap memory, but to me, that always felt more like Nintendo undercutting themselves than Sony overcharging. I actually feel the same about the 3DS itself: I think he original $250 pricetag was totally fair, and that Nintendo's basically lowered the price far more than they had to.
