Akiba's Trip might have more online buzz than Sumioni, but Sumioni has more of a market given it's a Vita game for a game hungry audience that actually can be displayed to the public without a look of embarrassment by those presenting it. Sumioni's major hurdle is the price. The game would likely have received a much better reception if it was $10.

For $10, I'd expect it to be a complete success, but to be a reasonable game, it had to be $15.

Oh man, this definitely wouldn`t have been my choice for localization. As some have mentioned, I do suspect the possibility that this may have been part of some bigger deal. Anyways, I don`t know much about the game, so I`ll be checking it out once there`s more info, but just looking at those 4 screenshots, I have to say the artstyle is not to my tastes.

    Orgarhythm PV:

It kind of told me nothing about the game, but it was beautiful. This is a huge step up presentation wise from the likes of Sumioni which showed up on the scene as something that wouldn't be out of place on the app store. This feels kind of different, even if I don't know what that different is.

Interesting, they tried to make the same approach as the Gravity Daze japanese commercial. The game seems like a heavy-user of the backtouch, I don't know how I feel about that.

I will admit that I'm really looking forward to this because of Tak Hirai. Note that Acquire isn't developing this- only publishing. This is Tak Hirai's studio, Neilo, working on it. He was the lead programmer behind Shenmue, Space Channel 5, and Meteos.

I've not played Shenmue, but the latter two are bigtime favorites of mine. So I'm really eager to see what this ends up being like.

Seems like something that would be better suited to smartphones. I thought the whole point of the Vita was that it could offer console-level experiences with physical controls.

Touch controls are fine if they're consistent and fit the games style (like in strategy games). Too bad most of the time they're used in games just because they can be (I'm looking at you NintendoDS).

Well, the Vita does also boast a multi-touch screen (which few smartphones offer), as well as a multi-touch pad on the back. One of the Vita's selling points, in fact, is its versatility -- there are few types of games you COULDN'T play on it, given how many possible input methods there are. (:
