I voted no as well since it already IS a strategy rpg in a way.
I may be blinded and misunderstood by society. But I see things that other people do not see. Knowledge is power but also creates insanity. Respect the decisions made by other people and they will respect yours. I am now called "therpgfan" on other websites now.

I'd be more inclined to see a Trails game released that went in the opposite direction, actually: eliminate combat altogether, and basically make it an RPG-like visual novel akin to Corpse Party.

I lost my whole reply thanks to my junk Internet connection. So, let me try this again.... *le sigh*

Edit: Also remembered I said in my lost reply that I had heard of and seen some of Corpse Party but was not aware it was like you had mentioned.

Anyways, hope I can repeat this but I was going to say I am not a fan of SRPG games myself. I can, however, see why it wouldn't be impossible for there to be a "tactics" Kiseki game.

    1) Final Fantasy may be the most popular JRPG series which primarily focuses on RPG elements - i.e. questing, dungeons, etc. However, it has had one or two incarnations of SRPGs in the form of the Tactics series.

    2) While it is not canon and is also a crossover game, we do have Y's vs Sora no Kiseki which is primarily a combat game.

Anyways, I would just like to say that I could care less either way, but I am first and foremost a fan of RPGs. I've only really liked one SRPG and that was X-Com: UFO Defense. My preferences are long walks in labyrinthine dungeons, running around cities, exploring the countryside, etc. I dare anyone to post that last part in a classifieds section. LOL!

I'd actually be curious what the series could do in the same vein of action-RPG (e.g. Tales or Star Ocean titles). I'm not really a fan of turn-based titles anymore, this game and a few pull through as exceptions. =/

Tactics... *groan* I've played through enough, the battles just take way too long for me to sit through. I'm part of the "I'm getting old" gamer crowd that just doesn't have time for that.

I think if we had a conditional turn based combat system on an SRPG grid, it would work really well, particularly if there was some strategic ability to suddenly change the turn order to your advantage.

Irony aside, what we're really talking about is making the grid bigger and having more characters, right?

I don't know... For the most part Ao wasn't THAT challenging, save for about two fights. (The first one being something you did NOT expect to be this OP'd, and the second one you can already guess.)

In my opinion, Legend of Heroes series have great stories... for games. But if you take the game aspect of it, most people won't buy, at least not in the west. The real thing about LoH, even more Trails, is that dialogues with NPCs are more than "I've heard they sell item x on city x", or "spiritual magic is effective against zombies", but the game part (fighting and exploration) is still the core of the games.

Turned-based RPGs are under heavy criticism nowadays, for their lack of substantial gameplay. It only takes one or two games whose story don't please the fans to make people turn their backs to the franchises (Final Fantasy). LoH needs to care about the gameplay as well. I'm not saying that it is not good, but a stronger step towards SRPGs would make its gameplay more interesting.

I agree that LoH could stand a "gameplay facelift," as it were, but I think SRPG is the wrong direction. I would lose all interest in the series if it made that switch, as I personally can't stand SRPGs.

If LoH went action RPG, though? I'd be ALL OVER THAT. (:

After playing Ys Strategy a long time ago I decided that I don't want to see a Legend of Heroes Tactics

I prefer Trails and all its sequels to keep the same gameplay and just do what they are doing and add minor tweaks each new installment.

I would like a tactical LoH game not based in the Trails universe though, then maybe we can start talking. But a tactical Trails game, I think I'll pass.

Well, mind you, I think we're about to see that 'facelift' that Wyrdwad is talking about. Nayuta no Kiseki is supposed to have a new game system.

Nevertheless, while I would gobble up a tactics Kiseki game (I trust Falcom, afterall)- I don't know if I'll enjoy it more than the system that is already in place, as a low-end tactical type RPG. It's not full-scale, like FFTactics, or Tactics Ogre, but it's a smaller end of that concept, I think.

But like someone else said, Falcom does have a full scale strategy series- Vantage Master. And while I love them, I suck so much at them. I don't want to play a game that's story heavy and not be able to get through the fights.
