Anybody want to share what they think of Sumioni so far? I don't have a Vita yet, but I'm interested in how the game is.

I'm having a blast with the game. I've completed it with 5/6 endings so far and it's both rewarding and challenging trying to get the better endings. I love the controls and the mechanics in the game and the touch controls work fine if you're a little agile with your fingers.
It is on the short side and you can "beat" the game in 15 minutes with the worst ending. Mastering the game takes a lot of practice though and even if it still isn't a long game I'd say it's worth it unless you're on a tight budget.
The presentation in the game leaves a lot to be desired though and the story is told through long scrolling text segments. The story and artwork is nice during these segments but it feels a bit budget to tell the story through scrolling text and there is a lot of it.
Personally I feel very happy with my purchase and I would buy "Sumioni 2" for $19.99 without hesitation but unless you enjoy the game and/or are a completionist, there isn't that much bang for your buck. The competition for digital games is steep also and cheaper games like Super Stardust Delta, Mutant Blobs, Plants vs Zombies might provide more content per dollar so to speak. iOS games are also cheap most of the time but this was more fun for me.
I feel this game will have very mixed opinions but I'd say it's possibly my personal favourite Vita game so far.
I'm trying to convince my friend to get it, it seems like an easy game for most people to get into. It sounds like it being only $19.99 is a good thing, I bet it would've helped if there was some sort of demo though, it could be enough to push people who are on the fence.
Wait for a price drop. The game's alright and all but I don't feel there's enough content to warrant $20 even if you'll end up playing more than 8 hours. As mentioned before, you can get the bad ending incredibly fast, and it's almost frustrating having to replay levels over, and over again to try to unlock the new level set. AFAIK there's no way for you to actually know how well/poorly you're doing in a level until the level's over, in which case you're going to need to replay the entire level set over again to reach that same level so you can replay it. It feels like an arcade game, and that's not a good thing in this situation.
Also, does anyone else know how to inflict status ailments? No where in the manual, nor tutorial does it explain how to. I want dat trophy man
It could be a year, it's still not worth $20 on my opinion. If I had the money on my PSN wallet at the launch, maybe I'd have gotten it, but I didn't, now I'll wait.
If you use a fire spell on a foe and then put out the fire with water before the fire kills him, you will cause a status ailment.
The rating you get for a mission is based on two factors if I understand it correctly, time and damage taken. If you lose more than half your lifebar you might as well just restart the level before finishing it unless there is a health pickup before the boss. Most missions only take a few minutes though so I feel it just spurs me to perfect my strategy.
I share your views on the game being pricey considering the content but I'm personally having a blast with it.
Shizuka is just mad at any game released that isn't Ragnarok!!
