    Feasibility of PC port

I was just wondering is there are any plans to adapt the existing translation Xseed's already done for FC for a PC release now that they've started publishing on Steam. It seems like a good idea as most of the hard work (the translations) has already been done and should be fairly easily apply-able to the PC release

There's no way it doesn't happen. I imagine the dream is to somehow make the translation budget for future games in the series split between PC and PSP.

Of course, the problem is that there are no PC versions of later games, and if one gets made in China (which a few Ys and LoH games have) the quality of the port could be dubious.

well the first three were all made for pc, zero (psp exclusive) has a Chinese PC port that was fairly decently done (some of the textures a bit rough around the edges but still overall quite good)

Actually the Zero PC port was terrible, even on newer PCs it ran poorly and there were sound and control issues. There's pretty much no chance XSEED bothers with it, they'd be better off starting from scratch and contracting someone to do a better port if they got that far. Also don't think SC or 3rd will be released on PSP since SC can't be at this point (UMD only isn't going to fly in 2013 or whenever it gets released), and I still doubt 3rd will be released in English at all. But if it does it will probably be PC only too since it doesn't make much sense to put it on PSP after PSP/Vita owners already missed out on the second game.

Trails probably won't go up on Steam until closer to SCs release though. That way they don't have even more people up in arms wondering where or even if the game is coming.

Pretty much took the words out of my mouth. Although as non-feasible as it sound I still like to 'believe' that they may try to get SC out on PSP for all the supporting fans who really want it that way. But with the rate its going and the time its going to be before SC is out.....hrmm.

    I wholeheartly agree this statement.

But i don't agree with this, because I think that this will be the only way for this saga to be known by more people in order to build a fan base, which would truly justify a localization of the Second Chapter (and if it will be successful, maybe even the Third).

I think the 3rd could be possible. Especially with the demand for SC so high. And then the rest of the series on vita could be plausible, it would require a lot of VA though unless they kept the Japanese VAs

I'm thinking something like 6 months or so out, not just a few weeks or something. There's not really a whole lot to gain by releasing it ASAP, because a lot of people won't double dip and those that do get it on PC will just join the annoying (but relatable) crowd of people hassling XSEED to hurry up and release SC without understanding that they're working on it and ensuring it meets the same quality standard set by the first game.

Even if FC sold really well, I don't think they could actually speed up localization of the game significantly (and maintain that level of quality at least).

Ahh ok, I thought you were thinking of a much longer period than 6 months. I think they will first release some other Falcom games before Trails FC.

I am still optimistic about them releasing SC by the end of this year. And honestly as much as I would love to get the rest of the series and more, I would understand if we only get FC and SC. i would be content with just those 2 because atleast they answer most questions in their story arcs thanks to them being a dualogy.
