I also really like Shiina Ringo. I like how varied her sound can be from song to song: sometimes it's very poppy (but still good), sometimes it's hard rock, then jBACONBACONBACON, then artsy electronica. Awesome. Magokoro Brothers is another band I like a bunch, but they're usually more folksy sounding and less pop.

I could keep nerding out about Japanese music, but I'll stop here. Maybe later in the thread.
