    Question Growlanser PSP

I'm not even sure that it's possible for XSeed to get it considering that Atlus does all of their own stateside releases. However, this game was announced around the same time that Persona 1 PSP was announced as well as Persona 3 PSP, both of which greatly overshadowed it.

That said, Growlanser has an... interesting release stateside.

We got Growlanser 2 and 3, but not 4, we got 5, but not 6 (which is an extension of 5).

It's a port of the first Growlanser with added features.

    From Wikipedia:
"Carmaine is a young man living in the capital of the kingdom of Rolandia. Rolandia's palace magician, Lady Sandra, had taken him in as a young orphan and raised him. He goes off to explore the world, accompanied by a fairy-like homunculus named Tippi.

In this world, magical energy called Growshu, fills the air and people called Growsians can potentially wield magic like in ancient times. Carmaines's younger sister Louise is one such Growsian. Winged people called Featherians also exist, though they live in seclusion from humans. Long ago though, humans and featherians had to cooperate to save their world.

In Carmaine's questing, he become an officer for the King. With this job he must carry out missions to help his country. There are mysteries surfacing and trouble brewing as various enemies seek to disturb the land and people."

Working Designs got Growlanser 2 & 3, so it shouldn't be impossible for another company to license this from Atlus. I don't know much about Growlanser, but I've definitely seen a demand for this particular title and it would be nice if someone could pick it up, that's for sure.

If I recall, Atlus gave a big fat "NO" to this title. I think it was mainly about how Sony doesn't like ports if they don't have added content, or something like that...

Sony doesn't care about ports anymore. There is a Harvest Moon title for PSP that is a straight PS1 port. And they've done it themselves with Parappa...

And they didn't care that much before, you just had to add a little bit of new content, even just video. One of the first RPGs on the system was PoPoLoCrois which was a PS1 port. But they added video. Same with VP:L...

(On the other hand, Konami and Capcom couldn't be bothered to add anything new, not even video to Suikoden & Breath of Fire3/ToE. So those didn't come out in NA)..

Atlus gave it a big fat no because every version of Growlanser that has been localized has been a gigantic bomb. It was the game that made WD go under

Well, WD going under had more to do with Generations having been merged together rather than being sold as two separate products as had been originally intended, thus halving their profits on games that probably weren't going to make much in the first place. I think there were other issues as well that all contributed to WD's bankruptcy, so I wouldn't exactly say the blame is totally at Growlanser's feet. I personally think Atlus should give the series at least one more chance.

This looks like it has a good story. I'd get this if it was localized.

Yeah WD being forced to bundle the games hurt them pretty bad, not so much the games themselves. If anything was the nail in coffin though it was that Goemon: Bouken Jidai Katsugeki, that they were working on at the time, was rejected because it wasn't graphically pretty enough. I'm sure there were other issues as well, but I wouldn't put any of the blame on the actual Growlanser games. I really enjoyed Growlanser Generations a lot more than Hertiage of war though.

That being said I would really really love to play the first Growlanser. I'm sure the story is fantastic, and I already know I love the gameplay. Hopefully someone over at Xseed or Atlus will cave in and bring it over.

this game is over ten years old. the PSP already has a ton of ports from old games. I'd like to see some NEW games.

From what little I understand from the first Growlanser, the story was fantastic, and Carmaine is one of the better protagonists in the series. Granted, my old copy is no longer with me, but I do wish to get my hands on the port.

Preferably, in English, but I highly doubt it at this rate.

It'll be new to the fans who never played the original Japanese versions. So...just pretend? I mean, I get what you're saying and all, but I like how we're getting all these older games that were never localized over here before.
