Xseed please release both of these on disc
Awesome news! Will buy on day one..
Question though - Will resolutions for the game be selectable or are they fixed in a particular resolution? I (and many others, I'm sure..) have a fairly large monitor, so a game at 640x480 isn't going to look very good without playing in a tiny window..
Thanks!
They have selectable resolutions, though I'm not sure how it's going to work on Steam since the Japanese PC versions had a separate configuration utility for IQ settings.
And Tom mentioned that there is no proper widescreen support, so that's a downer but not a big deal. And he only mentioned 1680x1050 support, but I assume it goes at least to 1080p. The Groupon versions of Ark and Origin both supported 1080p.
(1080p isn't native though, the interface is clearly stretched at that resolution).

Actually, those aren't specifically from Falcom. We happened to find ourselves a programmer with Steam experience, you see! She's looking into the possibility of adding widescreen support via patch in the future, but for the time being, the game still only natively supports 4:3 resolution. We're talking up to 1680x1050, though, so it still looks gorgeous, even if there are some tiny black bars along the sides of the screen. And I asked in the other thread, did Falcom add in proper widescreen support for this release? I wasn't expecting it, but maybe the chances are better since there are some other improvements like the achievements and leaderboards.
It's based on Deuce's fan-translation, but as with Felghana and Chronicles, it's being edited in-house. I promise no pop culture references or dumb jokes this time, though. Will you be using the fan translation of Ys Origin, or is this one from scratch? Will it include the Extras disc?
And yes, all extra disc content is included.
Regrettably, probably not. The game is Windows-only, so unless you're able to run Windows game on your Mac, it's a no-go. Sorry!Hi. I have steam on my mac. Will I still be able to get the PC version of Oath in Felghana and Ys Origins or is it for the PC version of steam?
No plans for that right now, but hey, if they turn out to be million-sellers, you never know what we might do in the future.Xseed please release both of these on discFor now, though, sorry!
Don't worry, resolution is selectable. As noted above, you can go all the way up to 1680x1050 in both games, and there are a LOT of options available.Question though - Will resolutions for the game be selectable or are they fixed in a particular resolution?
You shouldn't have any problem finding the perfect resolution for your monitor. (:
(Native resolution for both games, BTW, is 1024x768, as far as I'm aware.)
Yep, that separate utility is still present, and can be executed right from the game folder as long as you have Steam running. They have selectable resolutions, though I'm not sure how it's going to work on Steam since the Japanese PC versions had a separate configuration utility for IQ settings.
-Tom
I doubt that will a problem.. a lot of games have separate launchers and many of them have separate configuration utilities for graphics, control and audio options outside of the game itself. Sonic Generations is a recent example of this and it also supports steamworks, etc.
Yeah. When you launch the game you'll get to choose from the DX8/DX9 versions of the game or config right away, so it's fine.
Hmm, I wasn't planning on double dipping on Oath but at $14.99, I just might, primarily because it's so awesome anyway. Origin I'm definitely going for unless you guys charge $1337 or something.
What's Ys Origin like gameplay-wise? Bumpy? Jumpy? Slashy? Rolly? Teamy? Will it have controller support? What are system requirements & how do I steam?![]()
