Here is a video my daughter and I made catching an acanthodes. Not the best video but might help those having trouble finding one. Not much happens tell after 7 minutes or so. Usually I catch them earlier in the day but this one didn't bite tell late in the day. I almost lost this one because I wasn't ready for the first nibble.

I only fished for them at night, mainly because that's the only time I could actually see them. I'd go out and get a quick fish, then wait around for one to appear. If time ran out I'd just reset and start from after that first catch.

Caught the Cheiracanthus using the same strategy and in only one night.

we keep seeing the acanthodes but was unable to fish it. We keep seeing so many other fishes hanging onto the floating bait. May I know what baits did you use to catch it? It's getting frustrating.. we have already spent two whole human days trying to catch it.

Not much I can tell you. I suffered through the same thing trying to catch my first one. I finally caught one after seeing at least 5 of them. Try to cast in an area with barely any other fish in it and hope the Acanthodes will somehow also be attracted to your bait. This usually isn't possible, but just keep trying. I was using rainbow bait, by the way. There's probably a colored bait that it is also attracted to, but I'm not sure which one.

Help! Need five fish Acanthodes, Cheiracanthus, Rolfosteus Canningensis, Pond Smelt and a Seahorse. Going to try that trick fishing at night for Acanthodes and Cheiracanthus, not really worried about the Seahorse, but I can't find Pond Smelt and Rolf. Anybody have any ideas where I can catch these two?

The Pond Smelt is "caught" in a special area where you go ice fishing. Go to Kerikil River and look on the bulleting board for the post to go ice fishing. The fish you hook are pond smelt. The Rolf is located in Sembilan Island. Either try fishing in front of the giant mushroom shaped rock straight in front of you when you enter the island OR take a left at the intersection in the dock and go left. Cast out in front of the giant rock. It's really rare in both situations. I was extremely lucky and caught on my second attempt. I never caught it again after that time. Use Heroic/Lunker or Omega/Rainbow

Thanks for your help, caught Rolf and I had Pond Smelt all along. Now for the other three. Everybody and there brother or sister has the Seahorse but me. Tried the rocks left end of the beach even went on a kayak.

I don't really have a good method for catching the Seahorse. I usually just camp out at the trio of rocks to the right of where you first enter the beach and usually catch one within a day or two. I heard a lot of people had luck in the Shop Waterhouse area. I saw one once there, but it's very hard to catch its attention without attracting other the other fish's attention too.

The Acanthodes is found in the area with the dead tree south of the Red Windmill. I probably had the most trouble with this legendary fish since other fish kept getting in the way whenever I found one. Use Heroic/Lunker/Rainbow

The Cheiracanthus is found upstream from the area where you rent your kayak. It appears next to the first rock you see on the left when you row upstream towards the waterfall. Use same tackle as acanthodes
