I'm not worried. This is the same thing as when 3DS went on sale. Ok, they did do some better numbers (I wonder if it was for the 3D, or just brand loyalty?) Still, EVERY launch console/handheld needs patience to see numbers. The only one that did insane numbers, was the Wii, and because it was this new thing. Also, maybe a Zelda game on launch helped for some.

Seriously, just wait... even if things look bad now, it WILL get better with more titles coming out! Think about it: wouldn't a Call of Duty handheld be a system seller? PSP had one, but that was PSP (and before CoD was the monster it is now).

3DS also had a huge price drop, plus Mario Kart and a Mario platformer. Sony has less headroom for a price drop, and they don't have system sellers like that announced. Monster Hunter will inevitably turn things around in Japan, but I don't think western gamers will buy a Vita just to play CoD on the go. Portables aren't very popular with that demographic in general.

And while I'd like the Vita to do well, I don't want to be proven wrong on that! We don't need the Vita to end up over-saturated with shooters!

I'm just going to say one crazy thing: If... shooters are what it will take to get Vita purchases out there door... then I don't mind them... We KNOW there will be plenty of RPGs, and we have our favorite companies to bring them to us So, a good selling system can ensure that, especially if there is a large RPG fandom to go with the system.

I hope they don't overdo it with the shooters, but if doing some will be what it takes for Vita to sell... Then... well... I just want Vita to do well!! >_<

For a second, I thought you were talking shmups. In which case, I wouldn't mind an oversaturation of that particular genre. We could use more shmups in modern gaming. (:

I wish XSEED had a deal with Cave instead of Rising Star Games.

mostly japanese will prefer PSP than PSV or 3DS yet because the portable doesnt have yet potential on gaming or Solid Games like Monster Hunter(Vita Exclusive) or a popular JRPG

if you are thinking Japanese mostly they play JRPGs and Adventure not shooters this is why Uncharted:Golden Abyss(Sony JP think the game will sell well but it backfired)

It's definitely a "maybe when something I really want sells me a Vita, I'll get that game too," sort of game, and the $50 price tag certainly doesn't help. That's pretty much where all the notable games fall, announced and launch games/games already released in Japan.

Ys IV, Gravity Rush, and Wipeout are enough for me to go ahead buy it, even if some a couple of those will be released who-knows-when, but we're hardly typical consumers.
I was about to say you forgot Ys IV, but as awesome as the series is, it's certainly not going to move millions of Vitas by itself. But yeah, I'm not sure why anyone would be surprised at how slowly the Vita is selling when there really isn't anything going for it in terms of the software...yet. Doesn't matter how awesome the hardware is if there are no games for it that draw your interest. I think Sumioni has the chance to do better out here but that isn't a given.
