Who owns the rights to the Shadow Hearts series?

As far as I know, Xseed is the last company out there to work on a Shadow Hearts game so maybe they can tell us what happened to the series. After the release of From the New World, everything went dark. Nautilus lays shattered on a beach of broken dreams, while Aruze has since become Universal Entertainment Corporation. It's a real shame especially since the Shadow Hearts games are quite special with their dark stories and creepy atmosphere creating an experience like no other.

Aruze/UEC should. They bought/picked up Nautilus, and later dissolved them, so they would be the ones to own the license even if Nautilus previously owned it. But who knows what goes on behind the scenes, someone else could have ended up with it I guess.

I still need to pick up the third game, but I keep putting it off since reception seems poorer than the others.

Shadow Hearts From the New World is funny, creepy and everything in between. I wholeheartedly recommend it It's also an Xseed game. What more could you want?

I would love to see a revival or spiritual successor to this series. It's one my all time favorites!

Supposedly Arms Heart was terrible, so I'm not sure if you'd want a revival.

Another Shadow Hearts game would be great if it were more like the first two...While From the New World wasn't necessarily bad, it was definitely worse than the others. The game had too much 'silliness' in it and not even of the serious moments. I believe Covenant was a perfect mixture of seriousness and silliness, but From the New World just took the silliness and ran with it. Most of the party members were boring, such as Natan, or just too 'silly' for me, such as Frank or Mao. Ricardo and Hilda seemed to do next to nothing most of the time, while Johnny and Shania were the only ones given ample screen-time...
