V Jump magazine brings us our first look at in-game screenshots of KAIO: King of Pirates, along with information on the game’s main characters.


According to the V Jump page, it looks as though the game may have ship battles as well as regular battles. The row of characters on the bottom are the game’s main cast. Their names (from left to right) are: Eag, Chobi, Wukan and Peguin.


Eag is Peguin’s friend, but also his rival. Chobi is one of Peguin’s men and is the strongest in terms of power. Wukan is another of Peguin’s crew and is described as cool-headed and smart. Finally, Peguin himself is described as having a strong sense of justice and comradeship.


As previously reported, KAIO: King of Pirates is based on the Romance of the Three Kingdoms story. The game is about the battle over the Lucifer Coin. Whoever possesses the coin rules the ocean and becomes the Kaio, the king of pirates. The series is planned as a trilogy and is being spearheaded by Mega Man creator, Keiji Inafune.


Marvelous AQL, who are publishing KAIO: King of Pirates, will also debut an anime and manga series this year, as well as the game.

Might as well add Kokuga to the list. It's a tank shmup from G.REV that was released last year and they have not released it anywhere else, citing that they're working on getting it here. XSEED could make it an eShop release.
